Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson resisted giving catcher Miguel Montero a day off Wednesday due to Montero's hot hitting, and the catcher is on board with not resting while playing well.
"Obviously I'm starting to feel better at the plate, and I really have to take advantage of that," Montero told MLB.com Thursday, an off-day for the Diamondbacks. "I never want a day off, period, but now I'm really asking him not to give me one, because I feel better at the plate and I just want to continue that. If I get a day off, I might go backwards a little bit."
Montero is 9 for 25 with one home run over his last seven games.
