Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is back off of the disabled list and is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Padres. Utley missed 36 games with an ankle injury suffered in late June.

Utley is at his usual second base position and will bat lead off on Friday, something he has done just twice in his career. The last time Utley hit from the top of the lineup was back in 2004.

The 36-year-old veteran is in the midst of the worst season of his career. Prior to going down with the injury, Utley was batting .179 with four home runs and 25 RBI.
