Gavin LaValley: Released by Cincinnati
LaValley was among the Reds' recent minor-league cuts, Baseball America reports.
The corner infielder hit the Double-A wall in recent years and evidently the Reds did not envision LaValley ever getting over the hump and becoming a viable big-league consideration. LaValley slashed .254/.339/.396 with 10 homers and 111 strikeouts in 449 plate appearances with Chattanooga during his age-24 season in 2019.

Reds' Gavin LaValley: Punches ticket for Double-A
LaValley was promoted to Double-A Pensacola on Wednesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
LaValley was impressive to start his second season at the High-A level, slashing .289/.335/.547 with 15 home runs and 44 RBI in the first half. He even managed to collect Florida State League All-Star game MVP honors, and although he shares the same primary position as top prospect Nick Senzel, LaValley will continue to find playing time if he can hit like this at the next level.

Reds' Gavin LaValley: All-Star MVP
LaValley homered twice and had four RBI in the High-A Florida State League All-Star Game, earning MVP honors.
LaValley is repeating the High-A level despite putting up reasonable offensive numbers at Daytona last year. This year he has increased his power numbers, hitting .289/.335/.547 with 15 homers and 44 RBI in 58 games. A potential problem for LaValley is that he shares the same primary position as top prospect Nick Senzel. To that end he's been playing first base this year for Daytona.
