Haynes was released by the Yankees on Saturday, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
The 26-year-old had not allowed a run in 5.2 innings at Double-A this year, but was nonetheless cut loose. It is possible he suffered some sort of injury that led to this move.

Yankees' Kyle Haynes: Sent to High-A Tampa
Haynes was assigned to High-A Tampa on Thursday.
Haynes spent most of 2016 with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 4.61 ERA and 4.78 FIP across 18 starts. His assignment to High-A Tampa comes following a stint in extended spring training, explaining why he is yet to make an appearance so far in 2017.

Yankees' Kyle Haynes: Placed on seven-day DL
Haynes (lat strain) was placed on the seven-day disabled list for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
Haynes has been pitching decently for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, going 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in seven starts, but is headed to the disabled list. According to Shane Hennigan, Haynes will shut it down for a week before moving forward with a rehab plan. Jake Cave will take Haynes' spot on the Triple-A roster.
