Nationals' Kevin McGowan: Signs minors deal with Nationals
McGowan signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Tuesday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
McGowan has eight career major-league appearances under his belt, all for the Mets back in 2017. The 27-year-old has most recently been pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League. He'll be assigned to Triple-A Fresno.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Headed to DL
McGowan (undisclosed) was placed on the disabled list Monday at Triple-A Las Vegas, Betsy Helfand of The Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
McGowan will hit the disabled list after appearing in eight games out of the bullpen for Las Vegas. He's struggled significantly this season, accruing a 4.70 ERA and 1.66 WHIP across 15.1 innings. It's unclear how long the 26-year-old right-hander will remain on the shelf.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Designated for assignment
McGowan was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
The Mets needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the signing of Jay Bruce, and it appears McGowan was the roster casualty. The 26-year-old spent most of his time in 2017 with Triple-A Las Vegas, compiling a 4.15 ERA and 1.35 WHIP across 65 innings. He did appear in eight games for the big club, though he posted a lackluster 5.19 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 8.2 innings. McGowan will report to Las Vegas if he goes unclaimed.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Recalled from Triple-A
McGowan was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
The 25-year-old has made just one major-league appearance, conceding one run in 1.1 innings of work. McGowan compiled an unimpressive 4.85 ERA and 57:25 K:BB through 65 innings with Las Vegas, so he'll likely serve in a low-leverage bullpen role for the Mets down the stretch.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Sent back to Triple-A
McGowan was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, MLB.com reports.
McGowan joined the Mets as the club's 26th man for their doubleheader Sunday against the Nationals, but didn't appear in either game of the twin bill. As expected, his stay with the big club was brief, but he could be recalled from Triple-A on Sept. 1 when rosters expand.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Slated to serve as 26th man Sunday
McGowan will be recalled to serve as the 26th man for Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
The right-hander will come up for his third stint with the major-league club this month, providing additional depth to the bullpen. As the designated 26th man, McGowan will only be eligible to pitch in the second game of the twin bill.

McGowan hasn't played in a game for the big club this season, but he owns a 4.06 ERA and 55:24 K:BB through 62 innings with Las Vegas. McGowan failed to appear in any games with the big-league team after coming up Sunday morning, and will head back down as Gavin Cecchini joins the Mets for added infield depth. During 41 games with Las Vegas this season, McGowan has posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over the course of 55 innings, and remains a candidate to rejoin the squad in September.

Mets' Kevin McGowan: Joins big-league club
The Mets selected McGowan's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
McGowan will occupy the vacant roster spot that opened up when Neil Walker was traded to the Brewers on Sunday. The 25-year-old has posted a 4.06 ERA over 62 innings with Las Vegas this season. He'll likely work in a low-leverage role with the big-league club moving forward.
