Padres' Daison Acosta: Grabs MLB deal from Padres
The Padres signed Acosta to a one-year contract Monday.
Acosta has never pitched in the big leagues but received a major-league deal from the Padres after holding a 2.42 ERA and 72:27 K:BB over 52 innings across three minor-league levels in the Nationals organization in 2025. The 27-year-old has minor-league options remaining and will likely begin the 2026 season at Triple-A El Paso.

Mets' Daison Acosta: Returns from Tommy John surgery
Acosta (elbow) debuted April 13 at High-A Brooklyn and has made three starts for the affiliate, covering six innings and giving up eight earned runs on seven hits and seven walks while striking out six.
The 23-year-old is back in action in affiliated ball for the first time since 2019 after the cancellation of the 2020 minor-league season and then a prolonged recovery from Tommy John surgery kept him from pitching for two years. The early results for the right-hander haven't been encouraging, and he could be at risk of moving to Brooklyn's bullpen if he fails to turn things around in his subsequent outings.

Mets' Daison Acosta: Recovering from Tommy John surgery
Acosta is recovering from Tommy John surgery, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
His last official game action came in 2019, so it's unclear at which point during the offseason/spring he underwent the procedure. Acosta is an intriguing arm in the Mets' system, but he turns 23 on Aug. 24 and has not pitched above Low-A.
