Mets' Victor Castaneda: Inks minors deal with Mets
Castaneda signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Dec. 15.
Castaneda struggled in the Rays' minor-league system in 2023, but he just finished a solid 12-start run in the Mexican Pacific Winter League that saw him register a 3.95 ERA and 53:21 K:BB across 66 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander will serve as organizational pitching depth for New York in 2024.

Rays' Victor Castaneda: Sent to Tampa Bay as PTBNL
The Rays acquired Castaneda from the Brewers on Wednesday as the player to be named later in the Javy Guerra trade, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The framework of the trade was announced Nov. 18. Castaneda, 24, pitched to a 4.10 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 118:52 K:BB over 120.2 innings last season between Milwaukee's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates. Perhaps Castaneda, who's been plagued by control issues thus far in his career, can become the latest successful developmental project for a Rays team with a strong track record in that regard.
