Owen cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Owen passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment Tuesday, which is hardly a surprise given that he's a 27-year-old with just five MLB plate appearances under his belt. He'll remain as organizational depth for the Pirates for now.

The 27-year-old started in right field in his big-league debut Wednesday and went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being hit by a pitch. Owen will be evaluated further Thursday during the scheduled off day.

The 27-year-old will receive his first taste of big-league action with Gregory Polanco (undisclosed) landing on the injured list. Owen was promoted to Triple-A in 2019 but struggled at the highest level of the minors, posting a .622 OPS across 42 games.
