Mariners' Luke Barker: Gets minors deal from Seattle

Barker signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Monday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Barker missed all of the 2023 season following Tommy John surgery, but he's healthy now and will join the Triple-A Tacoma bullpen. The 32-year-old got into three games with the Brewers in 2023, allowing five runs in four innings. Barker holds a career 2.32 ERA and 30.4 percent strikeout rate during his time at the Triple-A level.

The move clears space for the Brewers to add Trevor Rosenthal (hamstring) to the 40-man roster after he was acquired in a deadline-day deal with the Giants. Barker hasn't pitched in over a month due to a UCL sprain, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the hill.

Barker had his contract selected by the Brewers ahead of Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader, and he'll return to Nashville without making his MLB debut. The 30-year-old has a 3.79 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB over 19 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

Barker's contract was selected by the Brewers prior to the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Barker has pitched in Nashville over the last two seasons, and he's posted a 2.69 ERA, 96:18 K:BB and 0.91 WHIP in 80.1 innings over 70 relief appearances with the Triple-A club. The right-hander hasn't yet made his major-league debut but will provide an additional option out of the bullpen during Monday's nightcap.
