Rockies' Bret Boswell: Back with Colorado
Boswell (ankle) signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Sunday that includes an invitation to major-league camp, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
Boswell was cut by the Rockies last May after being designated for assignment but is back with the organization for 2022. The 27-year-old has yet to make his big-league debut and last saw game action in 2019, when he hit .219/.290/.397 with 15 homers and 39 RBI at the Double-A level.

Bret Boswell: Let go by Colorado
The Rockies released Boswell (ankle) on Monday.
Boswell was designated for assignment earlier Monday after he was diagnosed with an ankle injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. He could look to re-sign with Colorado on a minor-league deal once he gets healthy.

Rockies' Bret Boswell: Loses 40-man spot
The Rockies designated Boswell (ankle) for assignment Monday.
The 2017 eighth-round pick hadn't appeared in any games for Double-A Hartford since being assigned to the affiliate in early May at the conclusion of minor-league spring training. Boswell previously spent the entire 2019 campaign with Hartford, slashing .219/.290/.397 with 15 home runs in 404 plate appearances. He'll remain in the Colorado organization if none of MLB's other 29 teams put in a waiver claim for the 26-year-old.

Rockies' Bret Boswell: Slated to miss remainder of 2021
Boswell will miss the remainder of the 2021 season due to an ankle injury, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
Boswell apparently sustained his injury at the Rockies' alternate training site while rounding the bases, and he didn't appear in any games for Double-A Hartford in 2021. The 26-year-old was protected from the Rule 5 draft in November but was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Monday.

Rockies' Bret Boswell: Shielded from Rule 5 draft
Boswell was added to the Rockies' 40-man roster Friday.
Boswell's production dipped at the Double-A level in 2019, but he was part of the team's 60-man roster in 2020. His addition to the 40-man roster will protect him from the upcoming Rule 5 draft.

Rockies' Bret Boswell: Invited to summer camp
Boswell will be a part of the Rockies' 60-man summer camp.
The 25-year-old infielder is not on the 40-man roster and hit .219/.290/.397 with a 30.2 percent strikeout rate at Double-A last season. He is not a particularly interesting prospect for redraft or dynasty leagues.
