Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Optioned to Triple-A
The Marlins optioned Gusto to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Gusto was up for a few days while Pete Fairbanks was on paternity leave, but he'll head back to the minors now as Fairbanks rejoins the active roster. The 27-year-old Gusto picked up a hold with a scoreless inning Wednesday in his lone appearance with the big club.

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Added to major-league roster
The Marlins recalled Gusto from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.
He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement in the bullpen for right-hander Pete Fairbanks, who was placed on the paternity list. Gusto collected a 5.67 ERA over 17 starts and 10 relief appearances in 2025 between the Astros and Marlins. He went five innings in his lone start with Jacksonville this season and will give the Miami bullpen some length.

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Out of running for roster spot
The Marlins optioned Gusto to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.
After failing to capture a starting or long-relief role with the Marlins, Gusto appears set to begin the season in the rotation at Jacksonville. The right-hander came over from Houston in a deadline deal last July and proceeded to go 0-3 with a 9.77 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 15.2 innings in his three starts with Miami.

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Cleared for start of camp
Gusto (shoulder) will be available to pitch this week as spring training gets underway, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Gusto closed the 2025 season on the Marlins' injured list after he was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement in late August, but he was able to make a full recovery over the offseason. Between his stops with Houston and Miami last season, Gusto started 17 of his 27 appearances and posted a 5.67 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 101.2 innings. The Marlins could have the right-hander stretch out as a starter during spring training, but he'll likely serve as more of a insurance option for the rotation and could begin the campaign as a long man out of the bullpen.
