Pirates' Grant Koch: Outrighted to Triple-A
The Pirates sent Koch outright to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.
Koch was designated for assignment Tuesday and went unclaimed on waivers. He'll remain in the Pirates organization and serve as depth at catcher, though his chances of reaching the majors again in 2024 appear slim.

Pirates' Grant Koch: Jettisoned from 40-man roster
The Pirates designated Koch for assignment Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Koch served as the Pirates' backup catcher for a few days but is being removed from both their 26-man and 40-man rosters as Henry Davis returns. He'll likely clear waivers and remain in the organization.

Pirates' Grant Koch: Joins MLB roster
The Pirates selected Koch's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Koch will serve as Yasmani Grandal's backup while Joey Bart (thumb) recuperates. The 28-year-old Koch has slashed just .167/.211/.259 with one home run this season at Indianapolis and would be making his major-league debut if/when he gets into a game.

Pirates' Grant Koch: Added to taxi squad
The Pirates added Koch to their taxi squad Wednesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Yasmani Grandal departed Tuesday's game against the Giants with a left groin injury. While Grandal hasn't been placed on the injured list to this point, the Pirates want to have Koch around in case a transaction is required. Koch, 27, has slashed just .167/.211/.259 with one home run this season at Triple-A Indianapolis. He isn't on the 40-man roster and has never appeared in a major-league game.
