Grant Witherspoon: Released by Detroit
Witherspoon was released by the Tigers on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Acquired from the Rays in March in exchange for cash considerations, Witherspoon had slashed .238/.350/.410 with 10 home runs and nine stolen bases in 73 games this season between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo. The 26-year-old outfielder has yet to reach the majors.

Tigers' Grant Witherspoon: Dealt to Detroit
The Tigers acquired Witherspoon from the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Witherspoon played 115 games for Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham in 2022, hitting .266 with 17 home runs across 470 plate appearances. The 2018 fourth-round selection has a chance to make his MLB debut at some point in 2023.

Rays' Grant Witherspoon: Reassigned to minors camp
Witherspoon was reassigned Wednesday to the minor-league side of Rays camp.
Witherspoon had gone just 3-for-24 (.125) with one extra-base hit and 11 strikeouts through 13 games this spring in Grapefruit League play. The 26-year-old outfielder is likely ticketed for Triple-A Durham to begin the 2023 campaign.
