Astros' Keoni Cavaco: Converting to pitching
The Astros signed Cavaco to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
The Twins used a first-round pick in the 2019 Draft on Cavaco but released him earlier this month after he hit just .212/.267/.335 with a 36.8 percent strikeout rate over five minor-league seasons. However, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul notes that the Astros plan to use Cavaco as a pitcher. The 23-year-old has been assigned to the Astros' Florida Complex League affiliate, where he will begin the transition.

Twins' Keoni Cavaco: Returns from concussion
Cavaco (concussion) was activated from the 7-day IL at Low-A Fort Myers, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
The 2019 13th overall draft pick was hitting .313 with two doubles, one steal, three walks and seven strikeouts in four games before the injury. Cavaco's prospect status has dimmed after a poor 2021, but the 20-year-old still has plenty of time to start putting things together.

Twins' Keoni Cavaco: Reinstated from injured list
Cavaco (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day minor-league injured list Tuesday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Cavaco was sidelined for nearly a month due to a concussion, but he'll now be available to return to action at Low-A Fort Myers. He slashed .264/.333/.340 with a home run, 11 RBI, 14 runs and four stolen bases in 28 games to begin the year.

Twins' Keoni Cavaco: Out with concussion
Cavaco has been placed on the 7-day injured list at Low-A Fort Myers with a concussion, TwinsDaily.com reports.
Cavaco was hitting .264 with a home run and a .673 OPS in 28 games. He hasn't shown much power with a .340 SLG but does have a decent 8.6 percent walk rate.
