McDonald cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
McDonald lost his spot on the Athletics' 40-man roster Saturday, but he'll remain in the organization. The 26-year-old has hit .229 with a homer, two doubles, four runs, three RBI and three stolen bases over nine games in Las Vegas this year.

McDonald was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Saturday.
McDonald was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, and he'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster a day later after Domingo Tapia was claimed by the Athletics. If McDonald isn't claimed on waivers, he'll presumably remain in the organization.
