A massive Bellator event is set for April 15 with two highly anticipated bouts set to headline from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Patricio Pitbull will have a chance at revenge when he takes on featherweight champion AJ McKee in a rematch for the title. Plus, light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov will take on Corey Anderson for the 205-pound title in the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix finals as Bellator 277's double main event.

McKee (18-0) defeated Pitbull (32-5) in the Featherweight World Grand Prix finals in July 2021. The fight was one of the most anticipated bouts in Bellator history. McKee stunned Pitbull with a high kick before locking in a guillotine choke that forced the finish less than two minutes into the bout. The result was a technical submission when the referee jumped in to stop the bout as the hold was locked in but before Pitbull had tapped or gone fully unconscious, leaving some degree of controversy despite McKee's dominance.

Pitbull entered the bout as the champion at both 145 and 155 pounds and recognized as arguably the greatest fighter in promotional history. McKee's slow build by the promotion was completed with the victory, and shortly after, Pitbull vacated his lightweight belt, allowing his brother, Patricky Pitbull, to become champion when he defeated Peter Queally at Bellator 270 in November. Now, Pitbull will seek redemption against the 26-year-old McKee.

Also at the event, another $1 million prize will be awarded to the winner of the light heavyweight title fight as champ Nemkov will look to make the third defense against Anderson.

Nemkov (15-2) won the championship at Bellator 244 in August 2020, when he knocked out Ryan Bader. He then entered the Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix and advanced to the tournament finals with a decision win over Phil Davis and a submission of Julius Anglickas.

Anderson (16-5) advanced to the finals and a chance at the title with TKO wins over Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov and former champion Ryan Bader. The wins brought Anderson to 3-0 under the Bellator umbrella, a stint that began after Anderson lost a UFC bout to Jan Blachowicz, snapping a four-fight winning streak in the promotion. After the loss, Anderson was granted his release by the UFC and joined Bellator MMA where he has dominated the competition en route to his world title opportunity.
