UFC 209 results: Darren Elkins knocks out Mirsad Bektic after taking a beating
Elkins was on the brink multiple times in the fight, but still somehow beat Bektic
Darren Elkins sports a tattoo reading “The Damage” across his chest. For the first 10 minutes of his fight with Mirsad Bektic, he was doing nothing but absorbing damage. Multiple times, Elkins looked in real trouble and the ref hovered over him, making sure he was still defending himself against the hot-shot prospect Bektic.
After the first round, doctors checked on the cuts above and below his eye to make sure they weren’t in serious danger of opening more. But, as the fight game goes, one punch can change everything. And for Elkins, it came in the third round where mid-ground game, he was able to get ahold of Bektic’s heel and put in a submission attempt. Even though it wasn’t successful, he was able to transition into a better position and pinned Bektic against the cage to deliver damage of his own.
Then, he dropped Bektic with this barrage.
If you watched the entire fight. You know why this finish was incredible.

“Feels awesome, probably my biggest comeback fight ever,” Elkins said after the fight. “I thought I lost it for sure and knew I had to finish.”
Elkins (23-5) is now riding a four-fight winning streak and will likely move into the top 12 of the featherweight division with this impressive comeback win.
