UFC news, rumors: Jon Jones shown head-butting police car; Jorge Masvidal explains why UFC 272 isn't in Miami
New police bodycam footage from Jones' September arrest has been released while the former champ continues to wait for a next fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is back in the public eye, but not for a new transgression. New police bodycam footage from Jones' arrest on Sept. 24 has been released when Jones was taken into custody following an incident at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal obtained and released new bodycam footage on Tuesday of the arrest, which occurred in the hours after the 2021 UFC Hall of Fame ceremony. In the video, an emotional Jones insults police officers.
"Humiliating me [on] my Hall of Fame night," Jones said. "You f---ing nerd. I hate you. I hate you! I hate you! You f---ing nerd. I hate you so much.
"Say your name publicly ... You turned me in my Hall of Fame night, just because I'm big and Black. And what did I do?... I came from my Hall of Fame ceremony, and I'm Black, and I did nothing to you."
Jones expressed concerning ideas during the arrest.
"Bro, hang me. Hurt me and kill me. What did I do?" Jones said. "A Black man can't drink? Getting elected into the Hall of Fame, and this is what I've got?"
The former UFC light heavyweight champion subsequently slammed his head against the hood of the police car. Officers quickly moved Jones to the back of the vehicle.
Jones was arrested after hotel security found that his fiancé, Jesse Moses, was bleeding from her nose and mouth. She said in a statement to officers that Jones got "a little physical" with her in front of their children. Jones was charged with one count of domestic battery, a misdemeanor, and one count of tampering with a police vehicle, a felony. The domestic battery charge was dropped later that year. Jones plead no contest for denting the police car. He was ordered to pay $750 in restitution, attend anger management therapy, and was given a court order to stay out of any and all legal trouble.
Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson from UFC 165 was enshrined into the Fights wing of the UFC Hall of Fame that evening.
Jorge Masvidal says UFC offered 'pittance' to headline Miami card
Jorge Masvidal will headline UFC 272 opposite friend-turned-foe Colby Covington, but it will not be in front of Masvidal's Miami faithful.
Masvidal says the UFC has reached out to him about headlining a Miami card, but the financial incentive was anything but incentivizing. The UFC welterweight title challenger insisted that he will not headline a Miami card until the money is more closely aligned with his selling power.
"I have no clue [when I will fight in Miami]," Masvidal told MMA Junkie in Spanish. "There's a price for that. The UFC wants me to bring the show to Miami. They've never been able to sell out the arena in Miami, and they have a horse that thinks he can do it, and that's me. But if they don't give me the money that I deserve, I'm not going to do it. I want to do it. I want to fight for my people here, but I can't let them take advantage of that.
"We've had conversations about that and what was offered was a pittance. They're taking advantage of what I bring to the table in the city of Miami. For me, it's easy: Give me what I deserve, and I'll do whatever. If you don't want to give me that, then no. I'm not going to sell myself short."
Masvidal vs. Covington will instead take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 5.
