    The streak continues for Thornton as he has scored in double figures in every game played since dropping only eight points on Jan. 12. During his second stint in the G League, the former William & Mary star is averaging an impressive 18.7 points and 3.2 assists across 45 games with Canton this season.

  • Marcus Thornton: Contract with Cleveland expires

    Thornton's 10-day contract with the Cavaliers expired Monday, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports.

    There has been no indication that the Cavaliers plan on re-signing Thornton, so the team will have two open spots on the roster. Thornton, who is still waiting on his NBA debut after failing to appear in any games during his stint with the Cavaliers, will presumably head back to Cleveland's G League affiliate in Canton. Over 42 games with the Charge this season, Thornton is averaging 19 points (on 41.5 percent shooting from the field), 3.5 three-pointers, 3.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 36.0 minutes per contest.

    Thornton will sign a 10-day contract with the Cavaliers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

    Thornton will look to provide the Cavaliers with depth at the wing, however will likely have a hard time seeing action as there is no shortage of wing players in Cleveland. In 37 games with the G-League's Canton Charge, Thornton is averaging 18.8 points over 36.0 minutes.

    Thornton provided 26 points (10-25 FG, 2-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, four rebounds and two steals during Tuesday's win over Delaware.

    The 25-year-old guard shot very poorly from behind the arc Tuesday but was still able to reach the 26-point mark. All season long, Thornton has been a consistent scorer for the Charge, constantly producing double-digit scoring performances. During his second season in the G-League, the William & Mary product is currently averaging an impressive 18.8 points.

    Thornton will join 12 other G League stars as a member of the 2018 NBA G League USA roster for the upcoming International Challenge, per the G League.

    The 25 year old William & Mary product has been a standout scorer for the Canton Charge this season, averaging 18.6 points, 3.0 boards, 2.9 assists, and 3.5 made threes per game over 36 contests. He and his fellow G League stars will face the Mexican National Team on Sunday, February 18th during the NBA All-Star festivities.

  • Marcus Thornton: Signs contract with Italian team

    Thornton signed a contract Saturday with Victoria Libertas Pesaro of the Italian Serie A Basketball League, Sportando reports.

    A second-round pick by the Celtics in 2015, Thornton spent his first season as a professional in Australia with the Sydney Kings, before latching on with the Celtics' D-League affiliate in Maine. With the Celtics not viewing Thornton as a candidate to make the roster in 2016-17, he'll continue to work on his game overseas in an attempt to eventually reach the NBA.

  • Marcus Thornton: Joins D-League squad

    Thornton has joined the D-League Maine Red Claws, Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe reports.

    Thornton, who drafted in the second round this past June by the Celtics, just completed his season with the Sydney Kings of Australia, and will head back stateside to get in some more court time. Since Thornton hasn't officially signed his rookie contract with the Celtics and isn't on the team's 15-man roster, he'll likely have to wait until 2016-17 to get a shot at playing in the NBA.
