D.J. Stephens: Heads overseas
Stephens recently agreed to a contract with Al-Manama of the Bahraini Premier League, Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net reports.
Stephens previously spent time on the Grizzlies' roster this season, making one appearance at the NBA level while serving as one of the organization's two-way players. Memphis released Stephens from its roster in December, and the swingman apparently wasn't eager to continue playing for the Grizzlies' G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle. He'll finish out the season overseas before presumably returning stateside this summer in pursuit of an invitation to an NBA training camp.

Grizzlies' D.J. Stephens: Signs two-way contract with Memphis
Stephens will sign a two-way contract with the Grizzlies, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Stephens last played in the NBA during the 2013-14 season and has since spent time overseas. Last year, specifically, Stephens played for Le Mans Sarthe Basket of the French Jeep Elite league, where he saw action in 46 games and averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds across 21.3 minutes. He also spent time with the Grizzlies organization during the Las Vegas Summer League back in July, so the team is familiar with him. As a result, Stephens earns a two-way deal and will be able to spend up to 45 days with Memphis during the upcoming campaign. That also means that Stephens will get a ton of run in the G-League.

Grizzlies' D.J. Stephens: Questionable to return Monday
Stephens suffered a right shoulder injury in Monday's summer league contest against the Trail Blazers and is questionable to return, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
Stephens took a hard fall during the first half of Monday's contest and may spend the remainder of the night on the sidelines as a result. Still, the injury doesn't appear all that serious and Stephens would be considered questionable at worst should Memphis advance in the tournament.

D.J. Stephens: Arrested for suspected domestic violence
Stephens was arrested Wednesday for suspected domestic violence, Sportando reports.
Stephens reportedly attacked the mother of his child, although it has yet to be determined whether he's guilty or innocent. We'll have to let the legal process run it's course before coming to any conclusions, so stay tuned on the matter. That said, Stephens was cut by the Grizzlies less than a week ago and this latest issue will likely only hurt his chances of latching on with a roster later during the season.

D.J. Stephens: To be waived by Grizzlies
Stephens was waived by the Grizzlies on Saturday, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Stephens hasn't appeared in an NBA regular season game since 2013-14, but he remains an intriguing prospect based on his standing as perhaps the league's best leaper. The 25-year-old, who averaged 9.0 points and 4.4 rebounds across five preseason contests, will likely return to the D-League, where he spent the bulk of last season.

Grizzlies' D.J. Stephens: Musters 13 points in Thursday start
Stephens tallied 13 points (4-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-6 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block over 23 minutes in Thursday's 104-83 preseason loss to the Hawks.
The four-year pro's starting opportunity in the exhibition opener seemed more or less an afterthought, but no one seemingly informed Stephens, who maximized his time on the court. He was solid from the field, including beyond the arc, and made his presence felt on the boards on both ends of the floor. Stephens' four steals were also a game-high figure, while his point total paced the Grizzlies' starting five. Although he remains a long shot to stick on the roster, additional performances of this caliber would undoubtedly bolster his case, particularly on a team that looks to be somewhat offensively challenged as presently configured.

Grizzlies' D.J. Stephens: Signs deal with Grizzlies
Stephens signed a two-year, partially guaranteed contract with the Grizzlies on Thursday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Stephens has played a total of six games during his NBA career, all of which came during the 2013-14 season. He was signed as a training camp body for the Pelicans and Cavaliers during the last two seasons, but ultimately failed to stick on the roster, which will likely be the case again as he heads to Memphis on a partially guaranteed deal. Stephens played three games with the Grizzlies during the Las Vegas summer league recently, posting averages of 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.3 assists over 21 minutes per outing.
