Salaun amassed seven points (2-11 FG, 2-7 3PT, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and one block in 32 minutes during Thursday's 121-116 preseason loss to the Pacers.
Salaun shifted to the bench, allowing Seth Curry to slide into the starting lineup. Although his shot was not falling, Salaun found other ways to contribute, hauling in an impressive 14 rebounds. His role remains somewhat uncertain, but could certainly increase as the season progresses. He is not worth drafting in standard leagues but should the Hornets opt to lean into their youth at any point, he could pop up on the radar.

Salaun is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Pacers.
Salaun started against the Knicks on Tuesday, but the rookie will make way for Seth Curry, who will get the nod at shooting guard alongside Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball in the backcourt. Salaun should see decent minutes off the bench, though, as this is the Hornets' preseason finale before the regular-season opener against the Rockets on Oct. 23.

Salaun was inserted into the starting five for Seth Curry on Tuesday, and the former got an extended look with a game-high 37 minutes of playing time. The rookie first-round pick is expected to come off the bench for the start of the 2024-25 regular season, but Salaun could earn more minutes -- and possibly a spot in the starting rotation -- if he outplays Josh Green (rest) and Cody Martin early on.

Selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Salaun is considered a long-term bet on upside for the Hornets. In the short term, the Hornets could utilize his wingspan, athleticism and defensive energy off the bench. While playing for Cholet in France in the 2023-24 season, the forward averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists.

Salaun has been selected with the No. 6 pick by the Hornets in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Salaun, out of French team Cholet, is an athletic power forward with a clean shooting stroke, and he's gifted at creating offense off the ball. He's also a gritty defender, but the 18-year-old does have room to grow as a ball handler. However, he'll find himself in a crowded forward rotation, competing for minutes with the likes of Brandon Miller, Grant Williams and potentially Miles Bridges, if Bridges comes back as a free agent. It's not an ideal situation for the rookie Salaun in terms of fantasy hoops.
