Smith posted seven points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt) and 10 rebounds across 17 minutes in Thursday's 109-84 preseason loss to the Mavericks.
The 33rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft had some notable moments and looked active on the glass, pacing the team in that category. Don't expect him to carve a regular rotation role once the 2024-25 regular season rolls around, though, and it wouldn't be surprising if he starts the season in the G League instead of being part of the NBA roster.

Bucks' Tyler Smith: Signs with Milwaukee
Smith signed a four-year, $7.9 million contract with the Bucks on Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
According to Scotto, only the first two seasons of the deal are guaranteed, while the third year is non-guaranteed and the fourth year is a team option. The No. 33 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the 19-year-old Smith was one of the few bright spots for the G League Ignite squad that went 2-32 during the 2023-24 season. The 6-foot-9 forward appeared in 43 total games between the regular season and G League Showcase Cup, shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range while averaging 13.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 triples, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals in only 22.2 minutes per contest. Smith will likely be on the outside looking in for a spot in the Milwaukee rotation heading into training camp, but on a Bucks team that's lacking in quality frontcourt depth, it wouldn't be surprising if he plays meaningful minutes at some point during his rookie season.

Bucks' Tyler Smith: Drafted by Milwaukee
Smith was selected by the Bucks with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Smith played for the G League Ignite during the 2023-24 campaign and averaged 13.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 22.0 minutes per game over 27 regular-season appearances. He shot 36.4 percent from beyond the arc on 4.0 three-point attempts per game and is a solid contributor in the post. It seems unlikely that the 19-year-old will be an immediate part of the rotation for the Bucks, and he could continue to develop in the G League with the Wisconsin Herd during the 2024-25 campaign.
