  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Starting sans Morant

Spencer will start against the Lakers on Sunday, Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com reports. With Ja Morant (calf) unavailable, Spencer will get the starting nod for the fifth time on the campaign. As a member of the starting five this season, the sharpshooter has averaged 12.0 points, 9.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Quiet in loss Tuesday

Spencer racked up seven points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and five assists in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 139-136 overtime loss to the 76ers. Spencer scored in single digits for the second straight game, a worrying trend for anyone still rostering him. With Ja Morant now healthy and playing his best basketball of the season, it appears that Spencer's role could be declining. With that said, Morant's next injury could be just around the corner, giving Spencer a slightly longer shelf-life. He remains a soft hold, specifically for managers needing assists and threes.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Reverting to bench Friday

Spencer won't start against the Bucks on Friday. With Ja Morant (ankle) returning from a four-game absence, Spencer will slide to the second unit. The second-year sharpshooter is still expected to see significant minutes Friday, and he has averaged 19.4 points, 5.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 27.6 minutes per game over his last five appearances off the bench.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Logs first double-double in return

Spencer posted 19 points (7-18 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds and 11 assists across 37 minutes during Saturday's 130-122 loss to Washington. Spencer reclaimed the fill-in role for Ja Morant (ankle) after a one-game absence and hit the double-double milestone for the first time this season. Spencer's usage should remain high with Morant and Vince Williams (knee) sidelined, but both players may return in time for Tuesday's matchup against the Thunder.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Ruled out for Wednesday

Spencer (personal) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Spencer is set to miss his first game of the season due to personal reasons, and his next opportunity to suit up will come Saturday against the Wizards. With the sharpshooter sidelined, Vince Williams and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are likely to see increased playing time, while Jahmai Mashack and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are candidates to enter the rotation.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Hits for 27 points in victory

Spencer logged 27 points (9-13 FG, 7-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, six assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Monday's 121-103 win over the Clippers. Spencer was scintillating beyond the arc, drilling seven of his 10 three-point attempts in the win. Monday marked the first time that Spencer passed the 30-minute threshold, and if Ja Morant's (ankle) injury persists after the upcoming two-day break, the second-year pro will be in line for another usage bump.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Ties season high with seven dimes

Spencer recorded 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 3Pt), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 29 minutes off the bench during Friday's 107-98 victory over the Clippers. The second-year guard is emerging as the floor general for the Grizzlies' second unit. Spencer has drained multiple three-pointers and scored in double digits in seven straight games, averaging 15.7 points, 5.1 assists, 3.0 threes, 2.3 boards and 0.7 steals in 24.1 minutes a contest over that stretch. With Ty Jerome (calf) not expected to make his season debut until January, Spencer has a clear path to cementing his expanded role in the Memphis backcourt.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Hits three triples in loss

Spencer produced 18 points (6-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes during Monday's 125-115 loss to Denver. Spencer continues to take advantage of Ja Morant's (calf) absence, scoring at least 15 points in three of his last four appearances. While Morant remains sidelined, Spencer will continue to see increased usage and could be a productive add in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Solid production continues

Spencer ended Saturday's 102-96 victory over the Mavericks with 17 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, five assists and one steal in 24 minutes. Spencer remains the backup point guard behind Vince Williams, having now logged at least 24 minutes in four of his past five games. He has scored at least 15 points in two of his past three appearances and is providing adequate assist and steal numbers. Those in slightly deeper formats may want to give him a look.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Scores 11 in loss

Spencer contributed 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 133-120 loss to the Knicks. Spencer has been getting good usage off the bench as the backup point guard, averaging 9.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.2 threes per game. When Ty Jerome (calf) inevitably returns to the mix, his role may be a little murkier, but expect Spencer to continue contributing among the second unit.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Won't start Monday

Spencer won't start in Monday's game against the Pistons, Drew Hill of The Daily Memphian reports. With Ja Morant (suspension) back in action Monday, Spencer will return to the bench. Over seven regular-season appearances (one start), the second-year guard has averaged 7.1 points, 3.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.9 steals while shooting 41.4 percent from beyond the arc in 17.3 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Starting Sunday

Spencer will start in Sunday's game against the Raptors. With Ja Morant (suspension), Ty Jerome (calf) and Scotty Pippen (toe) all sidelined, Spencer will get the starting nod for the first time this season. Over six regular-season appearances, the second-year guard has averaged 7.7 points, 3.3 assists and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 47.8 percent from three-point range in 15.7 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Hands out six assists

Spencer recorded six points (2-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds, six assists and one steal over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 114-113 victory over the Suns. Spencer produced his best game of the young campaign with season-high marks in minutes (19) and assists (6) as the Grizzlies improved to 3-2. Spencer seems to have pulled ahead as the eighth man in the rotation, but keep in mind that the Grizzlies are currently far from full strength with several guys still injured.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Adds 11 in preseason finale

Spencer put up 11 points (3-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, three rebounds and a steal over 21 minutes in Friday's 141-125 preseason win over the Heat. Spencer took advantage of Ja Morant's absence and backup Ty Jerome playing only four minutes, pacing the team in assists (five) and three-point attempts (six). While Spencer is in competition with Javon Small for minutes, it is worth noting Small is on a two-way contract, meaning it is likely Spencer begins the regular season as the third-string point guard behind Morant and Jerome.

  • Grizzlies' Cam Spencer: Game-high 23 points Tuesday

Spencer piled up 23 points (6-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 8-9 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 96-84 Summer League loss to the Warriors. Spencer supplied an efficient 23 points, leading all scorers Tuesday as well. The 2024 second-rounder should continue to be a significant contributor this summer, and he's set to battle with Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen for reserve minutes in Memphis' backcourt for the 2025-26 campaign.
