Colts quarterback Andrew Luck targeted starting tight end Dwayne Allen as he was normally would Week 9 at the Giants, completing four passes to him for 48 yards and a touchdown, he made better use of former college teammate Coby Fleener, targeting the second-string tight end a team-high 11 times.
Fleener also led the Colts in receiving yards with 77 and scored his first touchdown in three games. He caught four passes.
While the performance was great to see from a player who should have a natural rapport with his quarterback, it also brought to light just how rarely we see it. The 11 targets were a career high, yes, but Fleener hasn't had even six since Week 3 at Jacksonville.
And with Reggie Wayne healthy again, Donte Moncrief recently proving his worth, Allen still in the picture and T.Y. Hilton the best of them all, I'm not sure Fleener has the leeway for more than four or five targets most weeks.
Even in this game, he played only 52 percent of the Colts' snaps. He remains no more than a bye-week replacement in Fantasy.
