When Tom Brady threw his first touchdown pass against the Jaguars on Sunday, everyone inside of Gillette Stadium seemed to realize that it was Brady's 400th career touchdown pass -- except for the guy who actually caught it.

Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola gave the football away after catching the 1-yard pass from Brady late in the second quarter of New England's 51-17 win over Jacksonville

"I didn't realize it until halfway back to the sidelines, that I gave the 400 ball away," Amendola said after the win.

After Amendola realized what happened, the Patriots had to send a ballboy out to negotiate the ball's return. It's not clear what the fan got, but the 400th touchdown ball is now in the Patriots' possession.

"We got it back and [Tom Brady] got it, so it's good," Amendola said. "It was a great pass, a great play and we ended up getting six points out of it. It was a solid start to the game."

As for Brady, it doesn't sound like this situation is going to hurt his friendship with Amendola.

"It's just a ball," Brady said. "Danny can do whatever he wants, so he made a great catch."

Brady also threw touchdown pass No. 401 against the Jaguars and is now one of one four players in NFL history -- along with Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Dan Marino -- who have topped the 400 touchdown pass mark.
