  • Jeremy Maclin: Calling it a career

Maclin (hamstring) announced Sunday that he is retiring from the NFL.

Forced to sit out the entire 2018 campaign following surgery on his hamstring, Maclin will officially call it a career. He was never the same after posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2014 and 2015, with injuries playing a big role in his decline. The 30-year-old wide receiver caught 514 passes for 6,835 yards and 49 touchdowns in 114 NFL games, playing five seasons for the Eagles, two for the Chiefs and one for the Ravens.

  • Jeremy Maclin: Sets sights on 2019

Maclin is set to undergo a procedure on a hamstring/glute injury, which will keep him sidelined for the rest of the 2018 season, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The injury was holding Maclin back from working out with teams. He was reportedly a top target for many teams looking to beef up their wide receiver depth. The 30-year-old underwhelmed during his lone stint with the Ravens last season, as he caught 40 passes in 12 games for a career-low 11.0 yards per reception. He will now set his sights on a return in 2019.

  • Jeremy Maclin: Nearly back to full health

Maclin (hamstring) is nearing full health and expected to visit and work out for prospective teams soon, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

The 30-year-old attracted limited interest shortly after being released by the Ravens in March, then saw his chances of finding a new home prior to the season diminish entirely after tweaking his hamstring while training. While the worst of the injury seems to be behind Maclin at this point, it's uncertain he has much to offer teams as a depth receiver now that he's clearly on the downside of his career and is no longer a threat in the return game. The wideout largely underwhelmed during his lone season in Baltimore, hauling in 40 passes in 12 games for a career-low 11.0 yards per reception.

  • Jeremy Maclin: Plans to play in 2018

Maclin, who tweaked his hamstring while training for the upcoming season, is still a couple of weeks away from being 100 percent healthy, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The injury helps explain why Maclin has remained unsigned since being released by the Ravens in March. According to Schefter, the veteran wideout received offers from team prior to training camp, but Maclin is apparently waiting for the right situation to arise before putting pen to paper. With the regular season about to get underway, injuries will inevitably create a need for teams at receiver, with Maclin representing one of the more accomplished options out there on the open market.

  • Jeremy Maclin: Remains free agent

Maclin is still fielding his market and remains an unrestricted free agent, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.

Maclin was released by the Ravens in March after a relatively unsuccessful one-year stint with the team. He's known to have drawn preliminary interest from both the Eagles and Cowboys, but both teams have already signed a high-profile receiver or two since free agency opened last month. However, Maclin isn't believed to have any geographical limitations on the team he might sign with and is simply waiting for the right fit. In all likelihood, the 2014 Pro-Bowler will wait until after the upcoming draft to put pen to paper with any organization that might have interest.
