Chris Barker: Not retained by Browns
Barker (Achilles) didn't receive a qualifying offer or minimum tender from the Browns and has become an unrestricted free agent, per the league's official transaction log.
The move doesn't come as any surprise after Barker spent the entire 2017 campaign on injured reserve due to a preseason Achilles injury. Considering he's coming off a major injury and has practically spent his entire career bouncing from practice squad to practice squad, it wouldn't be a total surprise if he opens the 2018 campaign unaffiliated with any NFL team.

Chris Barker: Waived with injury designation Sunday
Barker ruptured his left Achilles during Saturday's practice and was subsequently waived with an injury designation, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Barker will be added to Cleveland's injured reserve if he goes unclaimed on waivers, which seems likely since he'll miss the entirety of the 2017-18 season. The 26-year-old lineman was signed this offseason to provide depth to the offensive line.

Browns' Chris Barker: Injures ankle Saturday
Barker suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's practice, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
The severity of Barker's injury is still unclear at this time. Cleveland claimed him off waivers in May with the hope he'd be able to provide some depth on the offensive line.

Browns' Chris Barker: Claimed by Cleveland
Barker was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Friday.
Barker has appeared in six regular-season games over the course of his career, most recently spending all of last season on the Patriots' practice squad before being waived this offseason. He'll have the opportunity to provide depth on the offensive line for the Browns.
