T.J. Lang: Officially retires
Lang officially retired from the NFL on Friday, Nate Atkins of MLive reports.
Lang, an Eastern Michigan product, was drafted by the Packers in 2009. He spent two years as a reserve guard before earning a starting job. He ultimately earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2015, his final season in Green Bay, before subsequently signing with his hometown Lions. From there he earned a second Pro Bowl bid, but injuries finally caught up to him this past season, as the 31-year-old missed 10 games due to multiple issues. He was released by Detroit last month, and has now decided to call it a career.

T.J. Lang: Let go by Lions
Lang (neck) was released by the Lions on Friday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Lang played in only six games last season and missed three games in 2017, so the move makes sense as Detroit gains almost $9 million in cap space. The 31-year-old battled a neck injury in 2018 but it isn't expected to have any longer-term implications for his career.

Lions' T.J. Lang: Neck injury not career-threatening
Lang (neck) is not considered to be dealing with a career-threatening injury, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Given how serious neck injuries can be in some instances, Lang seems to have dodged a bullet, and it's perfectly reasonable to expect him back in uniform in 2019. However, whether that will be with the Lions is up in the air, considering Lang will be entering his age-32 season and Detroit can save roughly $9 million by releasing him after the league year.

Lang (neck) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Lang missed two consecutive games due to lingering hip and neck issues, and has been placed on injured reserve. The free agency acquisition spent the majority of the 2018 season playing through various injuries, and only played six games with the Lions this year. He still has one year remaining in his three-year contract with Detroit. Expect Kenny Wiggins to slot into the starting right guard role for the foreseeable future.

Lang suffered a concussion in Week 4 that has only sidelined him for one game thanks to the Lions' Week 6 bye.
