Forrest signed a contract with the Seahawks on Thursday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Forrest played in two games with Seattle in 2017, primarily in a special teams role. He sprained his foot in the latter half of the season and ended the year on IR. He'll have a chance to earn a roster spot once again in a depth linebacker and special teams role.

Forrest was unable to practice this week due to the sprained foot, which he sustained in the Week 12 win over the 49ers. The Seahawks will miss his presence on special teams, but the team doesn't rely on him to contribute much on defense.

Seahawks' Josh Forrest: Diagnosed with sprained foot
Forrest sprained his foot during Sunday's victory over the 49ers, Tony Drovetto of the Seahawks' official site reports. "He sprained his foot fairly significantly. It's going to be a problem," head coach Pete Carroll said after the game.
Carroll's comments suggest Forrest could be out for an extended period of time. The Seahawks should issue an update on his status after Forrest undergoes testing this week.

The Seahawks signed Forrest from their practice squad Tuesday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Forrest will assume the roster spot of fullback Tre Madden (calf), who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. With several members of the Seahawks' defense managing injuries and facing a quick turnaround for the Thursday night matchup with the Cardinals, the linebacker could be active for the contest and pick up some snaps, most of which likely would come on special teams.

Forrest is now free to sign elsewhere if he is healthy enough to play. The 25-year-old was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury last year as well, but it's unclear how severe the injury is this time around.

It seems as if the move to the IR cements the suspicion that Forrest tore his ACL on Sunday, although the team has yet to comment on specifics of the injury. The 24-year-old recorded nine tackles, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery in 10 games, primarily on special teams.

Forrest was a decent enough player at Kentucky, surpassing triple-digit tackles in 2014, but the Wildcat defense was a mess over that time frame, and Forrest's Combine showing was not good. With a 4.91-second 40 and weak jump numbers, Forrest might struggle to run in the NFL.
