Keyarris Garrett: Placed on practice squad injured list
The Panthers placed Garrett on their practice squad injured list with a back issue, Bryan Strickland of the Panthers' official site reports.
Fellow wideout Austin Duke was signed to take Garrett's spot on the practice squad. The transaction will likely prevent Garrett from joining the Panthers' 53-man roster at any point this season, though the Tulsa product could be eligible to appear with another NFL team if Carolina releases him on an injury settlement at some point.

Panthers' Keyarris Garrett: Catches one pass against Texans
Garrett caught one of two targets for 23 yards in Wednesday's preseason opener against the Texans.
Garrett's big play obviously reflects well on him, but considering Damiere Byrd -- one of his chief competitors for a roster spot -- caught four passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns, he'll need to do more in the upcoming exhibition tilts to have a better chance of making the final cut.

Keyarris Garrett: Cut by Panthers
Garrett was cut by the Panthers on Saturday.
Garrett went undrafted out of Tulsa, but signed with the Panthers in May after leading the FBS in receiving yards last season. Despite appearing in all four preseason games, Garrett managed just four catches for 63 yards. Although he showed improvement in Carolina's final two exhibition outings, the team's deep, established group of receivers contributed toward Garrett's release.

Panthers' Keyarris Garrett: Big play against Pats
Garrett caught one pass (on two targets) for 34 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Patriots.
Garrett's 34-yard gain on the Panthers' final offensive drive marked the team's longest play of the game. That came after Garrett, an undrafted free agent from Tulsa, had his best practice as a Panther earlier in the week, the Charlotte Observer reports. Although Carolina's wide receiving group for the regular season seems close to being settled, and doesn't figure to include Garrett, he at least flashed some big-play ability Friday and will have a last chance to show his skills in next week's preseason finale versus the Steelers.

Panthers' Keyarris Garrett: Receives praise from coach
Garrett is "starting to string it together," according to coach Ron Rivera.
Garrett has caught Rivera's attention with his good performances over the last few days, including two catches for 17 yards in Carolina's preseason opener last Thursday. Signed as an undrafted free agent, Garrett was a prolific producer in college; he'll look to build on his recent success in the Panthers' remaining preseason games as he tries to carve out a role in the passing game.

Panthers' Keyarris Garrett: Signs with Panthers
Garrett signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent, ESPN.com reports.
Garrett, like fellow wideouts Kelvin Benjamin and Devin Funchess, is the kind of big bodied receiver that the Panthers seems to covet. At 6'3", 220 pounds, Garrett led the FBS with 1,588 receiving yards on 96 receptions, including eight touchdowns, for Tulsa as a senior last season. Given that production and scheme fit with the Panthers, Garrett could be one to monitor during the preseason.
