  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Extends perfection in finale

Fairbairn made his lone field-goal attempt and all three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 32-31 win over Indianapolis in Week 18. Fairbairn had a strong season while kicking for one of the worst offenses in the league. He finished out the year by making all 31 kicks over the final 11 games and made all six tries from 50 and beyond. There will be a new coaching staff in 2023, but it shouldn't take much effort to see Fairbairn was not a problem for Houston in 2022. He enters the final year of his contract after successfully converting 29 of 31 field-goal tries.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Logs lone points in loss

Fairbairn converted his lone field-goal attempt in Sunday's 31-3 loss to Jacksonville in Week 17. Fairbairn's 56-yard field goal in the third quarter prevented Houston from being shut out. The veteran placekicker has bounced back from an injury-marred 2021 to make 93 percent (28 of 30) of his FGAs, including all six from 50 and beyond.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Scores seven points in win

Fairbairn converted two of two field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Saturday's 19-14 win over the Titans in Week 16. Fairbairn finished off a couple of red-zone trips with chip shots and is a perfect 15-of-15 over the last nine games. He's also made all 21 of his extra-point kicks this season. If Houston can ever fix its offense, Fairbairn could be an elite kicker for fantasy teams.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Perfect again

Fairbairn made his lone field-goal attempt and all three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Chiefs in Week 15. Fairbairn has been perfect the last eight games, converting 13 of 13 FGA and 10 of 10 XPA. He's 16th in kicker scoring with 95 points, but Fairbairn is saddled with one of the league's worst offenses. He's third among qualified kickers, converting 92.6 percent (25 of 27) of his FGA, including five of five from beyond the 50.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Double-digit points in loss

Fairbairn converted all three field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 27-23 loss to Dallas in Week 14. Fairbairn connected on two kicks from long distance -- 50 and 54 yards -- and another from 43 yards. The 10-point effort was his second double-digit output of the season and came after a week of practice during which he dealt with a groin injury. The six-year veteran is enjoying a bounce-back season, having made 92 percent (24 of 26) of his FGAs.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Cleared for Week 14

Fairbairn (groin) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against Dallas. Fairbairn logged two straight limited practice sessions to start the week, but he was upgraded to a full participant Friday. The sixth-year kicker has yet to miss a game this season, connecting on 21 of 23 field-goal attempts across 12 appearances.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Expected to play Sunday

Texans special teams coordinator Frank Ross said Fairbairn (groin) is dealing with soreness but is expected to play Sunday against the Cowboys, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Fairbairn was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to the right groin injury and had his reps capped again Thursday, but the veteran looks like he'll be ready to kick by the time the weekend arrives. The Texans have yet to bring in any kickers for a workout and don't currently carry one on their practice squad, which supports the notion that Fairbairn's availability isn't much of a question mark, at least for the time being.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Limited with groin injury

Fairbairn was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a right groin injury. Fairbairn made both of his field-goal attempts in the Texans' Week 13 loss to Cleveland, but he appears to have picked up a groin injury along the way. He'll have two more opportunities to log a full practice session before Houston needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup with Dallas.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Perfect again

Fairbairn made two of two field-goal attempts and was not given a chance to kick an extra point in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Browns in Week 13. Fairbairn connected from 44 and 35 yards and has converted 11 consecutive FGAs. His last miss came in the first quarter of Week 7's loss to the Raiders. That's the good news about Fairbairn; the bad news is that he kicks for a team whose offense has cratered the last several weeks. Fairbairn attempted nine field goals and Houston averaged 13.6 points over the last six games. Additionally, they often fall behind by multiple scores and eschew field-goal attempts. For the season, the Texans rank 31st in scoring (15.7 PPG) and last in total yards (279.3 YPG).

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: No misses in loss

Fairbairn converted his lone field-goal attempt and extra-point try in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Commanders in Week 11. Fairbairn hasn't missed a kick of any kind since Week 7 and has just two errant kicks for the season. The issue is that Houston's offense doesn't afford him many opportunities. Typically, the Texans stall out and present field-goal chances, but the Commanders stifled the offense, which amassed just 148 yards (five in the first half).

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Records double-digit points

Fairbairn converted three of three field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Giants in Week 10. Fairbairn reached double digits in points for the first time this season thanks to Houston's red-zone inefficiency. Three of the Texans' six red-zone trips resulted in Fairbairn field goals. It could have been more, but Houston turned the ball over twice in the shadow of New York's goal line. He's connected on 17 of 19 (89 percent) field-goal attempts, including all three from beyond the 50.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Converts two FGs from deep

Fairbairn was successful on both field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Sunday's 13-6 win over Jacksonville in Week 5. Points were at a premium, and Fairbairn came through for the Texans. He nailed kicks from 50 and 51 yards in the second quarter -- his first two attempts of the season from the 50 and beyond. The fifth-year placekicker has a history of making long-distance kicks, connecting on 67 percent (20 of 30) of his attempts from 50 and beyond during his NFL career.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Misses first FGA

Fairbairn converted one of two field-goal attempts and all three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 34-24 loss to the Chargers in Week 4. A first-quarter kick from 46 yards was wide left, Fairbairn's first miss of the season. He nailed a 40-yarder in the fourth to bring Houston within one score, but the defense couldn't prevent the Chargers from tacking on a final touchdown. Fairbairn has successfully converted eight of nine field goal attempts and 31 points through four games.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Remains perfect

Fairbairn converted two of two field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Bears in Week 3. Fairbairn connected from 39 and 23 yards and remains perfect for the season on all kicks. He's tied with Cleveland's Cade York for sixth among placekickers with 25 points through three weeks.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Perfect in opener

Fairbairn converted two of two field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 20-20 tie with the Colts in Week 1. Fairbairn, who experienced an undisclosed injury near the end of preseason, returned to form and was perfect on the day. He made field goals from 45 and 43 yards. The Texans were within his range early in the fourth quarter and leading 20-3 -- it would have been a 53-yarder -- but head coach Lovie Smith opted to punt instead, explaining to reporters in the post-game press conference that he thought backing up the Colts and playing defense was the better option. Fairbairn, a usually a sure-footed kicker with distance, looks to improve on a down year in 2021 as the Texans maneuver through the second year of a rebuild.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Good to go for Week 1

Fairbairn (undisclosed) isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report. Fairbairn missed the preseason finale, but as expected, he'll be good to go for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Colts. The sixth-year kicker has made 83.8 percent of his field goals over his first five seasons in Houston, including a perfect 59-for-59 from inside 40 yards over the last four years.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Makes one, misses one Saturday

Fairbairn converted 1-of-2 field-goal attempts and made both extra-point kicks in Saturday's 17-13 preseason win over the Saints. Fairbairn connected on a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter then missed wide right in the waning seconds of the first half on a 59-yard attempt. The kicker is coming off a down season, but he's converted 18-of-28 (64.2 percent) of his attempts from beyond the 50 during his career. Houston head coach Lovie Smith views Fairbairn as a weapon, telling Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle earlier this week the team has "big plans for him" in 2022. "We're expecting big things," Smith added.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Shows consistency in camp

Fairbairn has made all field-goal attempts during the special-teams period in camp, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports. Fairbairn, who had been a constant his first four seasons with Houston, is coming off a down season that saw him dip below 80.0 percent in field-goal accuracy and miss three of 16 extra-point kicks (81%). The Texans were a mess last season, and many players had off years, but the offense is expected to be better in 2022. However, it remains an offense that's not expected to score a lot of touchdowns. As such, Fairbairn could be called on to attempt more field goals than his 19 tries of 2021.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Accuracy dips in 2021

Fairbairn converted 15 of 19 field-goal attempts and 13 of 16 extra-point tries across 13 games in 2021. Fairbairn posted less than an 80 percent field-goal conversion rate for the first time in his career during the 2021 campaign, but with just 19 total attempts, a small sample size should be noted. The Texans have an option to exercise a potential 'out' in Fairbairn's contract this offseason, which would leave the team with only $1.5 million in dead cap.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Misses lone FGA

Fairbairn was unsuccessful on his lone field-goal attempt and converted his only extra-point kick in Sunday's 23-7 loss to San Francisco. Fairbairn was wide left on a 45-yard attempt early in the fourth quarter, which could have tied the game had he converted. With a short field, San Francisco made it a two-score game just four plays later. Houston's offense staggered through much of Sunday's contest, so the miss was a pivotal swing. Fairbairn has made 14 of 18 field-goal kicks and two of four from 40-49 yards this season.
