Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Misses first kick since Week 2
Fairbairn converted his lone field-goal attempt and two of three extra-point kicks in Saturday's 23-19 win over the Colts in Week 18.
Fairbairn converted from 51 yards, the fifth time in six attempts he's been successful from beyond the 50 and was wide left on the extra-point miss. The missed kick was his first of any kind since Week 2, when he was wide on a 51-yard FGA against the Colts. The five points scored Saturday gave him 102 in 12 games. It's the fifth time in seven seasons he's had at least 100 points.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Logs 14 points in win
Fairbairn converted all four field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 26-3 win over Tennessee in Week 17.
Fairbairn continued his steady season and hasn't missed a kick of any kind since Week 2. For the season, he's been successful on 26 of 27 FGA and all 19 extra-point kicks. If not for missing five games due to injury, when replacement Matt Ammendola was presented nine field-goal attempts and 11 extra-point tries, Fairbairn would be among the top scoring kickers in the NFL.... Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Not needed in blowout loss
Fairbairn did not attempt a field goal and converted both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Browns in Week 16.
The Browns struck early and never let up, which limited Houston's need to settle for three points. Not that the Texans had to make any decisions about going for a field goal. Houston's offense had exactly one snap in Cleveland territory over the first three quarters. If C.J. Stroud (concussion) can return for Week 17 against Tennessee, or the team can get competent play from the backup QBs, Fairbairn could be a factor again. The placekicker converted all four field-goal attempts against the Titans in Week 15.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Returns, makes impact
Fairbairn converted four of four field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Sunday's 19-16 overtime win over the Titans in Week 15.
Fairbairn, who was back on the active roster after missing five games due to a quadricep injury, won the game with a 54-yard field goal as time expired in overtime. He had earlier nailed a 53-yarder and a couple of chip shots to keep Houston within striking distance. The kicking game wavered during the stretch when Matt Ammendola replaced Fairbairn, but it looks like Houston's reliable leg is back and ready. Fairbairn's made 22 of 23 field-goal attempts (five of six from beyond 50) and all 15 extra-point kicks.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Ready to kick Sunday
Fairbairn (quadricep) was activated from injured reserve and will serve as the Texans' kicker Sunday against the Titans.
Fairbairn hasn't played since Week 10 due a groin injury, but his absence was sorely missed given Matt Ammendola missed three of his nine field-goal attempts over the team's past five games. The Texans offense might be a bit more inefficient without star signal-caller C.J. Stroud (concussion) playing Sunday, so Fairbairn's scoring opportunities could be limited as a result.... Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Expected back for Week 15
Fairbairn (quad) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans.
Fairbairn remains on injured reserve but looks ready to return this week after missing the last five games with his pulled quad. Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Return on schedule
Fairbairn (quadricep) was designated for return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Fairbairn is expected to resume kicking duties for the Texans in Week 15 against the Titans, and his return to practice Wednesday after having his 21-day evaluation window opened marks a step toward making that a reality. Assuming Fairbairn experiences no setbacks with his quad in practice over the next three days, Houston will likely formally add him back to the 53-man roster Saturday. Fairbairn converted 18 of 19 field-goal attempts and 14 of 14 extra-point tries in Houston's first eight games before landing on IR.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Expected back for Week 15
Fairbairn has made a full recovery from a right quadricep strain and is expected to return from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game in Tennessee, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
While Fairbairn has missed Houston's last five games while recovering from the injury, Matt Ammendola has stepped in as the Texans' kicker and has converted six of nine field-goal attempts and 10 of 11 extra-point tries. Ammendola has since been returned to the practice squad, setting the stage for Fairbairn to reclaim kicking duties. The Texans will likely designate Fairbairn for return from IR when the team resumes practicing Wednesday.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Not ready to kick yet
Fairbairn (quadricep) remains on injured reserve for Week 14 after the Texans chose to elevate Matt Ammendola from the practice squad to serve as their kicker for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Fairbairn hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery from right quad strain, but the Texans didn't clear him to resume practicing this week even though he was eligible to do so. Ammendola will thus handle kicking duties for Houston for a fifth consecutive game, though Fairbairn could be ready to reclaim those duties Week 15 versus the Titans.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Trending toward Week 14 return
Fairbairn is making significant progress in his recovery from a right quadriceps strain and appears on track to return from injured reserve when first eligible for activation in Week 14, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
While Fairbairn has missed the Texans' last three games, Matt Ammendola filled in as the team's kicker but converted only three of six field-goal tries, although he was perfect on nine extra-point attempts. The Texans waived Ammendola on Monday after he missed on two of his three field-goal tries in the team's Week 12 loss to the Jaguars, including a misfire on a 58-yard attempt late in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game. While Houston could still re-sign Ammendola to its practice squad and elevate him for this Sunday's game against the Broncos, the team will also work out Brett Maher on Tuesday. Houston looks like it will have to get by with a replacement kicker for just one more game with Fairbairn tracking toward a return when first eligible.... See More ... See Less

Fairbairn (quadricep) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Still not practicing Friday
Fairbairn (quadriceps) did not participate at practice Friday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Fairbairn did not practice at all during the week, which means he's likely on track to miss his first game of the season in Week 10. Houston will likely elevate Matt Ammendola from its practice squad to fill in for Fairbairn prior to Sunday's game at Cincinnati.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Out for Week 10
Fairbairn (quad) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
The veteran kicker will miss his first game of the season after going 18 for 19 on field goals and nailing all 14 of his extra points through Week 9. Matt Ammendola is on the Texans' practice squad and is expected to be elevated Saturday to handle kicking duties in Sunday's contest.... See More ... See Less
Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Sidelined for another practice
Fairbairn (quadricep) didn't take part in Thursday's practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Fairbairn has now missed the Texans' first two Week 10 practices after suffering a right quad strain in this past Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. At this stage, Fairbairn appears to be trending toward sitting out this weekend's game in Cincinnati, but the Texans will probably wait until after Friday's practice before formally ruling the kicker out. Houston is likely to elevate Matt Ammendola from the practice squad to handle kicking duties Week 10.... See More ... See Less
