  • Isaiah Burse: Non-tendered by Chargers

Burse didn't receive a qualifying offer or minimum tender from the Chargers and has become an unrestricted free agent, per the league's official transaction log.

Burse spent the entire 2017 season on injured reserve due to a preseason concussion and will finish his two-year tenure with the Chargers without a single reception to his name. However, he was an effective return man on special teams during the 2016 season and shouldn't have a problem landing a new contract sometime this offseason. In late February the wideout stated he's "nearing 100 (percent)" in his recovery from his season-ending concussion and expects to be cleared in time for the start of team workouts in late April.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Will not play Thursday

Burse (concussion) will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the 49ers, Dan Woike of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

It's a tough blow for Burse, who is fighting for a roster spot as the team's sixth wide receiver and likely returner. He'll have to hope Kenjon Barner struggles in his duties as a return man in order to have a shot at sticking with the Chargers to start the season.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Will not return Saturday

Burse (shoulder) will not return to Saturday's game against the Rams, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Burse, who injured his shoulder on the opening kickoff, has been playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, so it's possible that Saturday's injury could be an aggravation of that.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Gets hurt on opening kickoff

Burse (shoulder) was injured during Saturday's game against the Rams, Eric Williams of ESPN.com reports.

Burse has been playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder, and it is yet to be seen if this is an aggravation of the same injury. He has yet to record a reception in the NFL, yet he's had a solid preseason and was looking to steal one of the final receiver spots for the Chargers.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Plays through shoulder injury

Burse caught two of his four targets for 14 yards in the Chargers' preseason loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.

Burse, who has been playing through a torn shoulder labrum, was reportedly one of the team's standout players through the beginning stages of training camp. The 25-year-old isn't expected to be much of a fantasy asset this season, with no less than five receivers seemingly ahead of him on the depth chart, but Burse could stick around as a return man.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Playing with torn labrum

Burse has participated in training camp with a torn labrum, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.

Burse finished last season as the return man for the Chargers, but now he's starting to impress as a viable receiver. As long as he can keep this injury under control, he should see an increase in offensive snaps, as well as maintain his returner role.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Signs exclusive-rights tender

Burse signed his exclusive-rights contract tender with the Chargers on Monday, Ricky Henne of the team's official site reports.

Burse was on and off the Chargers' practice squad last season, and when he did see game action, it was usually on special teams as the team's primary return man. Look for him to carry on in a similar role in 2017.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Does not record catch in 2016

Burse did not record a catch with the Chargers in 2016.

Burse was an active member of the Chargers roster for the majority of the season, factoring in on special teams as both a returner and gunner. But the 25-year-old rarely saw time on offense, recording three of his four targets on the season in Week 17. A restricted free agent, Burse is a candidate to return to the team in 2017.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Promoted to active roster

Burse has been promoted to the Chargers' active roster.

Burse's promotion is the result of Dexter McCluster suffering a season ending forearm injury in a freak household accident. Burse caught six passes for 72 yards and a touchdown this preseason.

  • Isaiah Burse: Released by Chargers

Burse was released by the Chargers on Monday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Burse was promoted to the active roster in order to provide a banged-up receiving corps with some depth for Sunday's game against the Broncos. However, the Chargers claimed ex-Jets receiver Jeremy Butler off waivers Monday and apparently needed Burse's roster spot in order to make room.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Promoted to active roster

Burse was promoted from the Chargers' practice squad to their active roster on Saturday.

Burse was promoted as a result of Travis Benjamin (knee) and Tyrell Williams (knee) being questionable for Sunday's game against Denver. If Benjamin and Williams are held out look for Burse to slot in as the third option at wideout.

  • Isaiah Burse: Released by Chargers

Burse was released by the Chargers on Tuesday to free up a roster spot for RB/WR Dexter McCluster, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Burse was a healthy scratch Week 1 and played just five offensive snaps Week 2. Griff Whalen was signed Monday to take over as the No. 4 wideout, with McCluster likely assuming a role as a part-time pass-catching back who can also line up in the slot if needed.

  • Chargers' Isaiah Burse: Inactive for Week 1

Burse is a healthy inactive for Sunday's Week 1 tilt with the Chiefs.

The Chargers decided to get by with just four receivers for the season opener, leaving Burse out of the mix. The 24-year-old is unlikely to see many snaps with the Chargers' offense this season, as his primary duties will come on the special teams units when he's active.
