Pinckney was waived by the Patriots on Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Pinckney signed a reserve/future contract with the Patriots in January, but with all the free agency additions the team has made over the past week the linebacker found himself squeezed off the roster.

Patriots' Michael Pinckney: Signs future contract
Pinckney signed a future contract with the Patriots on Wednesday.
Originally a member of the Patriots' practice squad, Pinckney has now secured a futures deal. After spending a few weeks of the 2020 season on suspension, the linebacker will set his sights on suiting up in 2021. He has yet to see action in an NFL game.

Michael Pinckney: Handed six-game suspension
Pinckney has been suspended six games for taking a banned supplement, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports.
Pinckney was rehabbing from offseason hip surgery and presumably took the supplement to aid his recovery. Pinckney's season is over given the suspension, meaning he will set his sights toward returning fully healthy for the 2021 campaign.
