McFarland's second stint with the Cowboys ended just like his first. He's now eligible to sign elsewhere.

Cowboys' M.J. McFarland: Returning to Dallas
McFarland signed a contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
McFarland had signed with the Cowboys back in May but was let go roughly a month after. He takes the roster spot of Connor Hamlett, who was waived after breaking his fibula.

M.J. McFarland: Waived by Cowboys
McFarland was waived by Dallas on Tuesday, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
McFarland's release comes just over a month after he signed with the club. He's unlikely to get much action wherever he lands in 2017, but he could earn a spot as a special teams player and depth tight end elsewhere.

McFarland signed with the Cowboys on Tuesday, Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News reports.
McFarland will likely function as a special teams asset if he makes the team and survives the final roster trims. With Jason Witten still in the fold, McFarland would hold little fantasy value even if he slid up to a backup role.

M.J. McFarland: Released from Eagles with injury settlement
McFarland has been released by the Eagles with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
McFarland was one of five tight ends remaining on the Eagles' roster after first cuts, but was eventually waived and reverted to injured reserve. The settlement gives him a chance to try his luck with another team.
