  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Taking first-team reps

Robinson (Achilles) is handling reps with the Jaguars' first-team offense at Monday's practice, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

Robinson, who remains in the process of recovering from a left Achilles tear, is taking first-team reps for the first time all training camp, albeit without any defenders on the field. He still hasn't stepped in for full-team drills, but that could be coming within the next few weeks. Robinson didn't play in the Hall of Fame game last week and doesn't figure to play in Jacksonville's exhibition with Cleveland on Friday.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Not slated to play Thursday

Robinson (Achilles) won't play in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against the Raiders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Robinson continues to work his way back from an Achilles' injury, so it's no surprise that he'll sit this one out. Fellow running back Travis Etienne also isn't slated to play Thursday, which leaves the likes of Snoop Conner, Mekhi Sargent, Ryquell Armstead and Nathan Cottrell as candidates to handle the team's backfield reps against Las Vegas.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Making progress, runs routes

Robinson (Achilles) ran routes during a drill at Monday's practice, James Johnson of Jaguars Wire reports.

The Jaguars are easing the third-year pro into action after last year's Achilles tear. Coach Doug Pederson suggested Robinson could be at full strength by mid-August, which sounds optimistic but not necessarily impossible. His rehab thus far seems to have gone as well as anyone could've hoped, but fellow running back Travis Etienne has been one of the stars of training camp after missing his rookie year with a Lisfranc injury. There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Robinson despite his strong work through two pro seasons.

  • Jaguars' James Robinson: Avoids PUP list to start camp

Robinson (Achilles) will not begin training camp on the PUP list, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Coach Doug Pederson said Robinson's ability to avoid the PUP list to open camp "says a lot." Still, Pederson said the plan remains to "be cautious with [Robinson] and make sure he's ready when he's ready," an indication that the team won't rush the running back in his recovery. With 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne in the fold and eager to make an impression on the NFL field, the Jaguars have the luxury of being able to take a cautious approach toward Robinson's recovery from a torn Achilles that he suffered in late December. It remains to be seen when Robinson will receive clearance to resume practicing in full, but all signs indicate his recovery process has been positive thus far. Sidestepping the PUP list to begin training camp offers reason for encouragement about Robinson's chances of being available Week 1, or at least much earlier than expected.
