  • James Robinson: Works out for Colts

Robinson worked out with the Colts on Monday, Jeremy Fowler of reports.

Robinson has been let go by two teams (the Patriots and Giants) in recent months, but with Jonathan Taylor (ankle/PUP) set to miss at least the first four games of the season and Zack Moss recovering from a broken arm, the Colts could be looking to add some backfield depth. The team's current healthy RB options are Deon Jackson and Evan Hull, along with practice-squad members Jake Funk and Jason Huntley.

  • James Robinson: Waived by Big Blue

The Giants waived Robinson on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The 2020 UDFA was a productive back during his first two years in Jacksonville but suffered an Achilles injury in December 2021. Since then, Robinson has spent time with the Jets, Patriots and Giants, but he's never looked like the dynamic back he was early in his career. The 25-year-old is now free to join another team, but the days of him being a coveted free agent are likely over.

  • Giants' James Robinson: Leads reserves in rushing

Robinson rushed 10 times for 55 yards (no targets) in Saturday's 32-24 preseason loss to the Jets.

Robinson was the second back to enter Saturday's exhibition with starter Saquon Barkley and primary backup Matt Breida sitting this one out. Jashaun Corbin started ahead of the veteran and scored the Giants' lone rushing touchdown Saturday. Robinson is currently one of several backs vying for one of New York's final roster spots ahead of the regular-season opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 10.

  • Giants' James Robinson: No burst in debut with Big Blue

Robinson rushed six times for nine yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Friday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Lions.

With starter Saquon Barkley resting, Robinson was the second running back into the game after Matt Breida. Robinson's inability to find any running room in this one won't quell concerns that his ability has been permanently diminished by the Achilles tear he suffered late in the 2021 season. He averaged just 2.9 yards per carry after being traded from the Jaguars to the Jets last season and was waived by New England three months after signing with the Patriots in the offseason. Robinson's fighting an uphill battle to earn a roster spot with the Giants.

  • Giants' James Robinson: Practicing at Giants camp

Robinson (undisclosed) participated in Thursday's practice, Matt Citak of the Giants' official website reports.

Robinson was cut by New England earlier in the offseason after was unable to stay healthy during OTAs. Injuries have sapped Robinson of his explosiveness, but he landed with the G-Men in late July and will compete for a backup job behind Saquon Barkley, Matt Breida, and presumably, rookie Eric Gray.
