  • Malik Spencer: Works out with New England

    The Patriots hosted Spencer (undisclosed) for a workout Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. The Commanders waived Spencer from IR with an injury settlement Sept. 3. The safety has overcome his undisclosed injury and is ready to start competing for a roster spot once again. With Craig Woodson (shoulder) and Dell Pettus (ankle) injured, Spencer could be elevated quickly as a strong safety if the Patriots signed him to the practice squad.

  • Malik Spencer: Departs Commanders with injury settlement

    Washington waived Spencer (undisclosed) from IR with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Spencer joined the Commanders as an undrafted free agent in May and spent training camp with the club. He was waived/injured Aug. 25 and subsequently reverted to IR when he cleared waivers. Since he's now reached an injury settlement with the club, Spencer is eligible to sign with another team and play during the upcoming campaign once healthy.
