Malone reverted to Atlanta's practice squad Monday.
Malone was elevated for Sunday's game against the Texans but ended up being inactive. The 23-year-old will now wait for his next opportunity to be called up, which could come in the near future with Josh Ali (ankle) on injured reserve.

After acquiring Van Jefferson in a trade with the Rams, Atlanta has decided to part ways with Malone. The undrafted rookie is now set to become a free agent.

Falcons' Zay Malone: Gets elevation from practice squad
Atlanta elevated Malone from its practice squad Saturday, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports.
Malone latched on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent May 1 and was added to the practice squad in late August after failing to make the initial 53-man roster. Atlanta placed wideout Josh Ali (ankle) on injured reserve earlier this week, necessitating the need for depth among its wideout corps. However, Malone isn't likely to see much work on offense Sunday versus Houston.

Xavier Malone: Rejoins Atlanta via practice squad
Malone signed with the Falcons' practice squad Wednesday, Scott Bair of the Falcons' official site reports.
Malone was waived by Atlanta on Tuesday but will rejoin the club's practice squad a day later. He initially joined the team as an undrafted free agent at the beginning of May.

Malone is slated to be waived by Atlanta on Tuesday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
The undrafted rookie out of Henderson State could return to the Falcons as a member of the practice squad, assuming he clears waivers. Atlanta remains in need of quality reserve options behind top wideouts Drake London, Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller.
