  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Returns to practice Wednesday

Horton (knee) was a full participant in Houston's practice Wednesday. Horton missed the Week 9 loss to Denver with a knee injury but is now healthy again. The 25-year-old should return to his role as a reserve defender and special teamer during Sunday's matchup against the Jaguars.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Won't play against Denver

Horton (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Horton suffered a knee injury during the Week 8 win over the 49ers and, despite logging a full practice Friday, will be inactive for Sunday's contest. His absence will allow Darrell Taylor and Denico Autry a chance at more rotational snaps with the Texans' defensive line.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Suffers knee injury

Horton suffered a knee injury during Sunday's 26-15 win over the 49ers. The rotational defensive end recorded one solo tackle in the game before leaving in the second half. Horton played more than 20 defensive snaps just twice across the first six games of Houston's season.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Practice window opens

Houston opened Horton's (illness) practice window Wednesday. Horton began the regular season on the reserve/non-football illness list. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma last November and was reportedly in remission as of this summer. Horton's return to practice Wednesday is a very positive sign in his recovery, and the opening of his practice window means Houston will have 21 days to activate him to its active roster. The 24-year-old played in 10 games during his rookie campaign last year, totaling 13 tackles (eight solo) and notching a fumble recovery over 169 defensive snaps.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Lands on NFI list

The Texans placed Horton on the active/non-football illness list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Horton, who was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list back in November, subsequently revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. The 2023 fourth-round pick is technically eligible to be activated at any point throughout training camp or the preseason, once ready to practice, but it's likely more realistic to still consider him out indefinitely. Horton is reportedly in remission and recently completed his final in-hospital treatment.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Stepping away from team

Horton is stepping away from the Texans to deal with a personal health matter. The rookie fourth-round pick has 13 tackles and two QB hits in 10 appearances this year, averaging 17.5 snaps per game on defense and 9.8 on special teams. Horton said he will provide updates from time to time while focusing on his health first and foremost.

  • Texans' Dylan Horton: Lands with Houston

The Texans selected Horton in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 109th overall. Horton has bounced around schools and positions throughout his college career, beginning at New Mexico before transferring to TCU for his final three seasons. He was recruited as a safety but ultimately bulked up to 257 pounds and now specializes as a quick pass rusher. At 6-foot-4, he also has the length to contribute to slowing the opposing team's rushing attack. Horton will look to pair up with fellow rookie Will Anderson to anchor the Texans' defensive line for seasons to come.
