Texans' Charles Omenihu: Another sack in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu had one tackle and one sack in Sunday's 28-21 loss to Pittsburgh.

Working in a rotation at defensive end, Omenihu recorded a sack for the second straight week. Omenihu, Carlos Watkins and P.J. Hall are rotating at both end spots, getting double the available snaps when J.J. Watt is not on the field.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Records sack in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu had two tackles and one sack in Sunday's 33-16 loss to the Ravens in Week 2.

Omenihu recorded his first sack of the season in the third quarter, snuffing out a Ravens red-zone trip and forcing them to kick a field goal. He started Week 1 but came off the bench against Baltimore behind P.J. Hall. He'll be part of the rotation at defensive end all season.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Fills rotational role as rookie
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu recorded 13 tackles, three sacks, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles over 14 regular-season games in 2019.

Omenihu averaged 32 defensive snaps per game, and his playing time ticked up after J.J. Watt's mid-season pectoral injury opened up an opportunity for the rookie. Houston invested a 2019 fifth-round draft pick in Omenihu, a local kid from Houston who played college ball at Texas, and he developed nicely. The Texans used several players at the defensive end spot opposite Watt, so expect Omenihu to be in the mix for a starting job in 2020.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Makes one big play
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu had one tackle, a sack, in Sunday's 31-24 win over the Chiefs in Week 6.

Omenihu made his one tackle count. Not only did it produce a sack, he stripped Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the ball, which was recovered by Bernardrick McKinney, putting the Texans in business at Kansas City's three-yard line with 23 seconds left in the first half. One play later, Deshaun Watson scrambled for a touchdown, giving Houston a lead entering the break. His normal role is to occupy blockers and let guys like J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus get to the quarterback, but the 2019 fifth-round pick out of Texas has recorded two sacks and forced two fumbles.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Won't go Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu (knee) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.

Omenihu was a limited participant at practice leading up to the game, and, as evidenced by this news, was unable to shake off the injury. With the 2019 fifth-round pick sidelined, Carlos Watkins could see an increased role providing depth at defensive end.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Officially questionable
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Texans have listed Omenihu (knee) as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Panthers.

Omenihu was limited at practice all week and appears to be trending toward a game-time decision. In the event that he is unable to suit up, look for Carlos Watkins to see an increased workload providing depth at defensive end.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu (knee) returned to Sunday's game versus the Chargers, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Exits game Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Omenihu (left knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear how Omenihu picked up the injury, but he was forced to leave the game in the second quarter, and could use halftime to get extra treatment for a second half return. In the meantime, Brandon Dunn could be in line to see some added reps as the only healthy depth lineman for the Texans.

Texans' Charles Omenihu: Staying in Texas
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Texans selected Omenihu in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 161st overall.

A highly touted recruit coming out of high school, Omenihu (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) didn't really live up the hype until his senior year in 2018, when he led the Texas Longhorns with 18 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. Still raw as a prospect, Omenihu has the size to grow into a regular role on the edge in Houston, especially given Jadeveon Clowney's uncertain future.
