Video: Two great shootout goals; which one was better?
Even without the NHL, Saturday had two awesome shootout attempts from Jonathan Huberdeau and Colton Yellow Horn. Whose was better?
If you're like most hockey fans, you don't like the shootout. If there's anything I've learned in the past couple of years, it's that I'm almost alone in enjoying the "skills competition" to break ties.
But no matter what side of the shootout fence you sit on, surely you can't help but appreciate a good shootout attempt. And on Saturday, there were two great ones.
First there was Florida Panthers top prospect and Team Canada World Juniors star forward Jonathan Huberdeau against Sweden in a tune-up for the Worlds later this week. The Canadians and Swedes went to a shootout where Huberdeau pulled off this awesome move to put the puck home:
With the way that the Panthers have struggled in shootouts, you know that has to have Kevin Dineen drooling. They could really use that kind of skill.
But that might not have even been the best shootout move of the day. For that we turn to Colton Yellow Horn (he wins points for his shootout on his name alone) of the Ontario Reign of the ECHL. This is simply stunning.
Holy spin-o-rama, Batman, that was downright dirty. Not only did he do the spin and dump the puck into the net on his backhand, but he started the dazzling display by tossing the puck between his skates and getting the goaltender off guard from the start.
So we put it to you: Which attempt was better?
