Shane Prince: Moving over to Switzerland
Prince signed a contract with HC Davos of Switzerland on Saturday, TSN reports.
The New York native compiled 38 points (12 goals, 26 assists) over 128 career contests in the NHL. It's quite unfortunate that Prince didn't pan out, especially since he held so much promise as the 2011 second-round (61st overall) selection, with his career originating in Ottawa. Perhaps he'll find a second wind playing overseas after injuries limited him to 14 games with the Islanders in 2017-18.

Islanders' Shane Prince: Injury-plagued season
Prince only had one goal and one assist in 14 games for the Islanders this season.
Prince suffered several injuries that took him out of the lineup for extended periods of time, but even when healthy, he was far from an automatic start for the Islanders. He is a restricted free agent this summer and could find himself playing for his third organization next season.

Prince (lower body) will return Thursday against the Rangers.
Prince hasn't played since Jan. 18 so he could be a bit rusty upon his return. He'll skate in the bottom six with very little to offer fantasy owners. Prior to getting hurt, Prince only had two points in 12 games for the 2017-18 campaign, but that he worked so hard to come back for a team that won't be in the playoffs speaks volumes about his work ethic and dedication to the game of hockey.

Islanders' Shane Prince: Has begun skating
Prince (lower body) is skating with the team, Newsdayreports.
Prince has been out of the lineup since Jan. 21 due to the injury. Coach Doug Weight stated Tuesday that Prince should be ready to return to the lineup "sooner than later". He could make his return to the lineup Friday versus Toronto or Saturday in New Jersey.

Prince (undisclosed) has yet to be cleared to play and will remain out of the lineup against the Wild on Monday.
Considering there have been no reports of Prince returning to practice -- or even skating on his own -- fantasy owners can probably expect him to be out for a while. The team has also not provided a timeline for when the winger might be eligible to return, which certainly doesn't indicate good news on the injury front. Coach Doug Weight should provide an update once the team is ready to take the Rochester, New York native off injured reserve.

Prince exited Tuesday's game against the Devils early due to an upper-body injury, but the ailment he sustained during that contest clearly wasn't overly serious. The 25-year-old winger, who's notched just one goal and two points in 11 games this season, will skate with Brock Nelson and Michael Dal Colle on the Islanders third line against Boston.

Islanders' Shane Prince: Leaves game early
Prince was forced to exit the game Tuesday versus New Jersey after suffering an upper-body injury, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
This is certainly unwelcome news for both Prince and the Islanders, as the team came into the game shorthanded with only 11 forwards. The Isles are dealing with several injuries to their forward group, as Josh Bailey (lower body), Andrew Ladd (upper body), Casey Cizikas (hand), and Nikolay Kulemin (shoulder) are all out of the lineup. Losing Prince isn't a huge blow, as the third-line winger only has six goals in 61 games.

Islanders' Shane Prince: Scores in victory
Prince scored his first goal of the season Saturday as the Islanders defeated the Rangers 7-2.
The goal was the first for Prince in nine games this season and only his second point of the season. He is currently playing on the third line for the Isles but several injuries to key forwards are likely to see quite a few line changes over the coming days and weeks for the team. Prince could even be a healthy scratch once all of the regular forwards return to action.

Prince logged just 11:10 of ice time during Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to Anaheim.
The winger hadn't suited up for the Islanders all season because of an ankle injury, and he played just four contests with Bridgeport during his conditioning stint in the AHL. As a result, it's probably best to take a wait-and-see approach with Prince in all settings, especially since he's not currently projected to receive top-six minutes or power-play looks.

Prince was recalled from his conditioning assignment with AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.
In four games with the Sound Tigers, Prince notched a pair of helpers and a minus-2 rating. With the winger back in the fold, it seems likely he will make his 2017-18 debut versus the Ducks on Thursday -- probably in favor of Steve Bernier. If he can stay healthy, Prince could top his career highs from last season (five goals and 13 helpers).

Prince (ankle) was activated and subsequently loaned to AHL Bridgeport for a conditioning assignment Sunday.
Prince has yet to suit up for the Islanders this season, though he has been practicing fully since Nov. 17. Expect the 2011 second-round pick to spend at least a week in the minors before rejoining the Isles, who rank second in the league in scoring with 3.55 goals per game.

Prince (ankle) practiced with the Islanders on Monday, Cory Wright of the Islanders official site reports.
This would seem to indicate that Prince may be slightly ahead of his scheduled December return date. A conditioning stint in AHL Bridgeport could still be in his near future before the Islanders have to decide where he should play. The Islanders don't seem to have a roster spot open right now for Alan Quine or Prince, but that could change in a hurry once injuries strike.

While it's a good sign that Prince is once again skating, he's still not expected to be able to return to the Islanders until December at the earliest. Prince had five goals and 18 points in 50 games for the Islanders last season and even when healthy, he's not guaranteed a spot on the roster.

Although Prince is not expected to be ready until mid-December at the earliest, fantasy owners will likely still be concerned with the fact that he can't pinpoint when he will get back on the ice. Even when healthy, the winger's role is uncertain at best -- he periodically suits up on the top line with John Tavares, but Price also often slots in as far down as the third line.
