Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Two helpers against Caps
Edvinsson collected two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over Washington.
The 22-year-old blueliner had a hand in Detroit's first and last goals of the afternoon. Edvinsson has gotten onto the scoresheet in four of 12 games since returning from an illness that cost him three contests in late November, producing one goal and six points over that stretch with 19 blocked shots, 17 shots on net, 15 hits and a plus-9 rating.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Pots lone goal in loss
Edvinsson scored a goal in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Oilers.
Edvinsson dealt with a lower-body injury that took him out of Wednesday's game versus the Flames, but he was able to avoid missing a full contest. The 22-year-old had the Red Wings' lone goal Thursday, and it was his first tally since Oct. 25 versus the Blues. For the season, the defenseman is up to four goals, 10 points, 34 shots on net, 37 hits, 58 blocked shots, 44 PIM and a plus-5 rating over 29 appearances. Edvinsson saw 21:38 of ice time Thursday, so it doesn't look like fantasy managers should be concerned about his health for now.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Slated to play Thursday
Edvinsson (lower body) is slated to be in the lineup against Edmonton on Thursday, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Edvinsson exited Wednesday's 4-3 win over Calgary due to the injury, but it seems he won't miss a full game. Edvinsson has three goals, nine points, 44 PIM, 37 hits and 57 blocks in 28 outings this year.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Exits contest
Edvinsson (lower body) won't finish Wednesday's game versus the Flames.
Edvinsson was ruled out ahead of the third period, though it's possible there's a cautious angle here for the Red Wings. They led 4-0 at the time of Edvinsson's exit, and they're in the first half of a back-to-back that will also see them play Thursday in Edmonton. If Edvinsson can't play that game, Jacob Bernard-Docker will draw back into the lineup.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Registers two assists
Edvinsson logged two assists, three shots on goal, three hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Kraken.
Edvinsson had one of his better all-around games of the season. He supplied helpers on goals by Andrew Copp and James van Riemsdyk during the second period, allowing the Red Wings to stay level at 3-3 heading into the final frame. Edvinsson has three assists over his last five games, and he's up to nine points, 32 shots on net, 34 hits, 54 blocked shots, 42 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 26 appearances. While he has struggled offensively, the 22-year-old is playing a more physical game that could make him an option for deeper banger leagues.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Snags helper in return
Edvinsson notched an assist in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Lightning.
Edvinsson missed the previous three games due to an illness, but he was able to log 19:49 of ice time in his return. That's not quite his usual workload, but it's on the first half of a back-to-back, so the Red Wings may be playing it safe as he regains his strength. The helper snapped a five-game point drought for the defenseman. He's at seven points, 26 shots on net, 26 hits, 48 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 22 appearances this season.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Suiting up versus Tampa Bay
Edvinsson (illness) is in the lineup for Friday's home contest against the Lightning, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
Edvinsson will slot into a top-pairing role alongside Moritz Seider following a three-game absence. Friday's game is the first half of a back-to-back for Detroit, so Edvinsson being available against Tampa Bay seemingly indicates he has fully moved past his illness.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Scores twice Saturday
Edvinsson scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Blues.
The Red Wings scored six unanswered goals to turn a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 victory, and Edvinsson played a key role in the comeback after netting Detroit's fifth and sixth goals. His second marker of the game was scored on an empty net. The defenseman now has three goals in nine outings this season, but he's not expected to find the back of the net with any regularity. The 22-year-old finished the 2024-25 regular season with seven goals and 31 points in 78 outings.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Sinks empty-netter Saturday
Edvinsson scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added two PIM in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Edvinsson picked up his first point of the campaign to give the Red Wings some breathing room late in the third period. He's added four shots on net, four hits, four blocked shots and four PIM over two contests. Edvinsson is playing on the second pairing at even strength but isn't getting much power-play time, which could limit his offense in the event Axel Sandin-Pellikka stays on the NHL roster all year. Nonetheless, Edvinsson offers some upside as an all-around defender for fantasy purposes.

Edvinsson (lower body) will suit up against the Leafs on Thursday, Daniella Bruce of the Red Wings' official site reports.
According to head coach Todd McClellan, the 22-year-old Edvinsson will play in both of the Wings' final preseason games versus Toronto. With Edvinsson good to go, Detroit put defensemen William Lagesson and Ian Mitchell on waivers to reassign them to the minors.

Edvinsson (lower body) has been cleared for contact but won't play against the Blackhawks on Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Edvinsson is expected to play in at least one of the Red Wings' final two preseason games. Once the blueliner gets back on the ice, he should be good to go for Opening Night against the Canadiens on Oct. 9. Last year, the 22-year-old defenseman notched seven goals and 24 helpers in 78 regular-season games, numbers he should be fully capable of reaching in 2025-26.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Should play Opening Night
Edvinsson (lower body) is expected to be available for the start of the regular season, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com on Monday.
Edvinsson was on the ice as an extra during the morning skate, but he won't play in Monday's preseason matchup against Pittsburgh. He also won't be in the lineup versus Chicago on Tuesday, but it's unclear if he will play on the road against Toronto on Thursday or versus the Maple Leafs at home in Saturday's exhibition finale.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Sustains lower-body injury
Edvinsson (lower body) is expected to miss a couple of weeks, but he should be available "around the start of the regular season," general manager Steve Yzerman told Daniella Bruce of the Red Wings' official site Wednesday.
Edvinsson had seven goals, 31 points, 67 PIM, 86 hits and 144 blocks in 78 outings while averaging 21:07 of ice time with Detroit in 2024-25. He should continue to serve in a top-four capacity this year. If Edvinsson isn't ready for the opener against Montreal on Oct. 9, then that increases the chances of Travis Hamonic playing in that game.

Edvinsson logged two assists, three shots on goal, two hits, two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Devils.
Edvinsson did it all in one of his strongest outings of the season, which ended a nine-game slump for the defenseman. He's at 31 points, 85 shots on net, 86 hits, 142 blocks, 67 PIM and a plus-15 rating over 77 appearances. Edvinsson could still find more offense as he continues to develop, but he has good all-around production already.

Edvinsson recorded an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Avalanche.
Edvinsson has four helpers over his last three games, matching his point total from his previous 14 contests. The 22-year-old helped out on an Austin Watson tally in the third period Tuesday. Edvinsson is up to 29 points, 67 shots on net, 124 blocked shots, 70 hits, 52 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 67 appearances. It's a strong first full NHL campaign for the blueliner, but he doesn't stand out in many areas outside of blocks and PIM.

Red Wings' Simon Edvinsson: Two assists in Monday's win
Edvinsson logged two assists, four hits, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 5-1 win over Utah.
Edvinsson has three helpers over his last two outings and five assists through 11 games in March. The 22-year-old blueliner also saw a bit more power-play time Monday, drawing 54 seconds with the man advantage. He could gain a larger role there while Erik Gustafsson (undisclosed) is out. Edvinsson is up to 28 points, 66 shots on net, 70 hits, 123 blocked shots, 52 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 66 appearances, offering multi-category upside as a depth option in fantasy.
