  • Kraken's Ty Nelson: Racks up four points in AHL win

Nelson scored a goal and added three assists in AHL Coachella Valley's 6-4 win over San Diego on Saturday.

With the effort, Nelson has a career-high 35 points over 63 appearances this season in his second AHL campaign. He had gone five contests without a point prior to Saturday. Nelson is still waiting for a chance to make his NHL debut, but he could get a look if the Kraken don't add to their defense in the offseason.

  • Kraken's Ty Nelson: Three points in AHL loss

Nelson scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Coachella Valley's 5-4 overtime loss to Calgary on Sunday.

Nelson has a pair of three-point efforts over his last five games. The defenseman will still need to work on consistency, but he's showing some of the talent that made him a third-round pick for the Kraken in 2022. He's up to eight points, 18 shots on net and a minus-1 rating over 11 appearances after posting 32 points and a plus-17 rating in 72 regular-season games as an AHL rookie in 2024-25.

Nelson had been limited to just one assist over his first six games of the season. The 21-year-old defenseman is at four points, 12 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through seven contests. He had a solid rookie year with six goals and 32 points in 72 regular-season games in 2024-25, but he'll need to keep growing his game to push for a spot with the Kraken in the next couple of years.
