Flames' Sam Morton: Relegated to minors
Morton was assigned to AHL Calgary on Tuesday.
Morton got into three games with the big club after being elevated from the minors Nov. 17. He had nine hits, three shots on goal, 10 PIM and a minus-1 rating during that stint. The 26-year-old will receive more consistent ice time with the Wranglers -- he's collected four goals and 12 points over 16 appearances with them in 2025-26.

Flames' Sam Morton: Called up by Flames
Morton was recalled from AHL Calgary on Monday.

Flames' Sam Morton: Big effort in win
Morton scored a goal on four shots and added two assists in AHL Calgary's 6-1 win over Bakersfield on Sunday.
Morton is up to 10 points in 10 games for the Wranglers this year. He's earned nine of those points over his last five outings after a slow start to the season. The 26-year-old could be a candidate for NHL minutes if the Flames decide to mix up their bottom six at some point in the campaign.

Flames' Sam Morton: Racks up three points for Wranglers
Morton scored twice on three shots and added an assist in AHL Calgary's 4-3 win over Coachella Valley on Saturday.
Morton needed a big game, as he had just one assist in the Wranglers' first five contests of the year. With four points in six games, he's unlikely to be near the top of the list of call-ups for the Flames. The 26-year-old is more likely to spend most or all of 2025-26 in the minors, though he made his NHL debut -- and scored his first goal -- with the Flames at the end of last season.

Flames' Sam Morton: First career goal is game-winner
Morton scored a goal and added four hits in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Kings.
Morton made his NHL debut Thursday, and he scored at 6:05 of the third period to put the Flames ahead 2-0. That goal ultimately stood as the game-winner. This was a positive audition for Morton, who is a restricted free agent this summer. He's posted 45 points over 69 games with AHL Calgary. The undrafted forward could compete for a bottom-six job in training camp in the fall. He'll likely head back to the Wranglers for their playoff run to close out 2024-25.
