Capitals' Graeme Clarke: Nets two goals in AHL loss
Clarke scored twice on three shots in AHL Hershey's 5-4 loss to Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Clarke has had a decent start to the AHL season with three goals in five games. His offense slid last year with Iowa, where he had 16 goals and 37 points in 64 regular-season outings, down from point totals of 49 and 58 from the previous two campaigns with Utica. That's not a positive trend to see from a scoring winger who is now on his third NHL organization. The Capitals have few NHL-ready prospects waiting in the wings, but with a strong crop of forwards in DC, it's unlikely Clarke gets much of a chance to contribute with the big club this year.

Capitals' Graeme Clarke: Put on waivers
Clarke was waived by Washington on Wednesday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Clarke recorded 16 goals and 37 points in 64 regular-season appearances with AHL Iowa in 2024-25. The 24-year-old is expected to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Capitals' Graeme Clarke: Inks one-year deal
Clarke signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Capitals on Wednesday, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Clarke was an unrestricted free agent after Minnesota decided against presenting him with a qualifying offer Monday. The 24-year-old had 16 goals, 37 points and 36 PIM in 64 regular-season outings with AHL Iowa in 2024-25. He didn't appear in the NHL last year, but Clarke did log three regular-season games with New Jersey in 2023-24, recording no points, two PIM and six hits while averaging 11:23 of ice time.

Graeme Clarke: Allowed to hit free agency
Clarke was not given a qualifying offer by Minnesota on Monday.
Clarke never made an appearance for the Wild during his stint with the organization, having last played in the NHL during the 2023-24 campaign when he was with New Jersey. The 24-year-old winger did put together a strong season in the minors last year, racking up 16 goals and 21 helpers in 64 regular-season contests, so he should find a two-way deal somewhere next season.

Clarke saw action in just three NHL games this season in which he recorded two shots, six hits and two PIM while averaging 11:23 of ice time. The 22-year-old winger will return to the minors to suit up for the Comets, who are longshots to secure a place in the Calder Cup playoffs. In his previous time with the minor-league club, the Minnesota native notched 24 goals and 23 assists in 64 contests. He'll look to bring that offensive upside to training camp in the fall to make the Opening Night roster.

Clarke signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Devils on Thursday, PuckPedia reports.
The Devils selected Clarke in the third round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Clarke suffered a shoulder injury early last year and barely played as a result, but he was a strong goal scorer in the OHL. However, after four AHL games this year, the 19-year-old is still searching for his first point.
