Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Scores 23 in preseason blowout win
Tatum posted 23 points (9-19 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists and a steal across 27 minutes in Saturday's 144-106 preseason win over the 76ers.
The 76ers rested several key players, including Joel Embiid and LeBron James, so Tatum took advantage of favorable matchups to rank second on the Celtics in scoring behind Payton Pritchard, who exploded for 25 points off the bench. This was Tatum's first game of the preseason, and the Celtics are expected to monitor his workload carefully to have him in top condition for the regular-season opener against the Pistons on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Starting Saturday
Tatum (rest) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.
The Celtics will be starting most of their regulars in this preseason contest, meaning Tatum will return to the hardwood after missing the previous game. It wouldn't be surprising if they monitor his workload, with the regular season right around the corner.

Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Feeling explosive ahead of camp
Tatum said he "feels great" as he continues his recovery, noting that he's now 16 and a half months removed from surgery, Zack Cox of the Boston Herald reports.
The extended offseason has allowed him to focus on getting stronger and becoming more explosive while working on his body as a whole. These are encouraging comments from a fantasy perspective as Tatum enters the 2026-27 season with a clean bill of health.

Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Clean bill of health
Zack Cox of the Boston Herald believes Tatum (knee) should be close to 100 percent this season.
Tatum is healthy ahead of training camp, and the hope is that he'll be able to revert back to form before his 2025 Achilles injury. The superstar forward is Boston's definitive top scoring option, now that Jaylen Brown is with the 76ers, and Tatum will be looking for improved efficiency after shooting a career-low 41.1 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from deep last regular season.

Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Top dog for Boston
Tatum (knee) should once again serve as the unquestioned centerpiece of Boston's offense after the Celtics traded Jaylen Brown for Paul George and other assets, John Schuhmann of NBA.com reports.
While George remains an effective two-way wing, he's unlikely to command the same offensive workload as Brown at this stage of his career, potentially leading to even greater scoring and playmaking responsibilities for Tatum. Assuming he returns to full health, Tatum has a legitimate path to career-best usage in 2026-27.
