Frazier accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Initially it was reported that he was mulling his options, but Frazier opted to remain with the Cubs, as there likely wasn't a team willing to give him a 40-man roster slot and pay the rest of his $1.5 million contract for this season. Frazier will likely put up impressive numbers at Iowa, but he is not a key part the Cubs' long-term plans.
