  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Moves to injured list

The Orioles placed Holliday on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with left wrist inflammation, retroactive to Tuesday.

Manager Craig Albernaz said before Wednesday's game against the Mets that Holliday is "banged up," and the Orioles have now determined that his wrist injury is serious enough to warrant a trip to the IL. The 22-year-old will be eligible to return from the IL before the O's begin their final series of the regular season against the Yankees. Until then, Jeremiah Jackson figures to take over as Baltimore's primary second baseman, while Jose Barrero will come up from Triple-A to replenish the team's infield depth.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Dealing with injury

Holliday (undisclosed) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

Manager Craig Albernaz said that Holliday is "banged up" but didn't specify the type of injury the young infielder is dealing with. He'll have another day off Thursday to recover before the O's return home to begin a series against the Brewers on Friday. In the meantime, Jeremiah Jackson will start at second base and bat seventh.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Taking seat Wednesday

Torres is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Toronto.

Torres has seen his playing time slip since the Tigers fell out of the playoff hunt, as this will be the fifth time he's been absent from the lineup over the last 10 contests. Hao-Yu Lee will man second base and Colt Keith will be deployed as Detroit's designated hitter.

  • Ben Ross SS | MIN

Twins' Ben Ross: Back up with big club

The Twins recalled Ross from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday.

Ross is starting at shortstop Wednesday against the Yankees in place of the injured Kaelen Culpepper (hamstring). He'll see some action at that position while Culpepper is out, and Ross can also handle every position on the diamond other than pitcher and catcher.

  • Nick Sogard 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Nick Sogard: Goes yard in loss Tuesday

Sogard went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a strikeout during Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Texas.

Sogard swatted his fifth homer of the season in the third inning off Jacob deGrom to cut the lead in half. The 29-year-old has reached base safely in eight of his last 10 games. This year, the switch-hitter is batting .264/.360/.416 with five homers and 19 RBI in 233 plate appearances.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Goes deep twice in Tuesday's win

Bazzana went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs during the Guardians' 7-6 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.

Bazzana helped put the Guardians up 3-0 early in the first inning with a solo homer to right-center field before going deep again in the sixth to reduce the deficit to one run. It's the second multi-homer game of the season for Bazzana, with five of his 13 homers coming over his last 10 games. In that 10-game span, he has gone 15-for-34 (.441) with one steal, 14 RBI, eight extra-base hits and 10 runs scored.

  • Hao Yu Lee 2B | DET

Tigers' Hao-Yu Lee: Smacks ninth home run

Lee went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Lee added an insurance run in the ninth inning of the blowout by launching his ninth home run of the season. Outside of a three-hit performance Saturday, the rookie infielder came into Tuesday's contest batting just .091 this month before tallying his two hits. Despite the rough patch, Lee is still having a strong debut campaign with a .255 batting average and .723 OPS overall, and he's firmly in Detroit's plans moving forward.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: On bench vs. lefty

Holliday is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.

Holliday started the previous seven games -- including two against left-handed pitchers -- but he'll take a seat versus New York southpaw Sean Manaea. Jeremiah Jackson is handling the keystone while batting sixth Tuesday for Baltimore.

  • Athletics' Joshua Kuroda-Grauer: Ready for rehab games

Kuroda-Grauer (testicle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, Jason Burke of Roundtable.io reports.

Kuroda-Grauer underwent surgery in late July to address a ruptured testicle, and he's progressed enough in his recovery to be cleared for games. The rookie should return at some point during the final week of the regular season, provided all goes well on his rehab assignment.

  • Rays' Ben Williamson: Starting rehab assignment

Williamson (hamstring) reported to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 25-year-old landed on the shelf in early August due to a strained hamstring, but he's been cleared for game action after recently resuming baseball activities. Williamson has a .247/.309/.332 slash line with three home runs and eight steals in 84 games this season, and he may only need a few games in the minors before rejoining the Rays.
