Jake Meyers CF | HOU
Astros' Jake Meyers: Moves to 60-day IL
The Astros transferred Meyers (knee) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Meyers suffered a season-ending kneecap injury in mid-September, so the Astros will stash him away on the 60-day IL to free up a 40-man roster spot for Josh Hendrickson. Meyers appeared in 57 games for the Astros this year but slashed just .213/.268/.326 with three homers, 11 RBI and 15 runs scored over 153 plate appearances.

Aaron Judge RF | NYY
Yankees' Aaron Judge: Aiming to play in wild-card round
Judge (calf) said Wednesday that he intends to be ready to play in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Judge will miss the rest of the regular season due to a moderate right calf strain, but the fact that he's making an effort to play right away in the postseason is an encouraging sign of progress. However, the slugger's comments directly contradict manager Aaron Boone's belief that Judge may not be available until the ALDS. More clarity regarding Judge's return timeline will likely emerge after a few more days of recovery.

Tristan Peters CF | CHW
White Sox's Tristan Peters: Back in starting lineup
Peters (shoulder) will start in center field and bat sixth Wednesday against the Royals.
Peters missed three consecutive starts after crashing into the outfield wall last Friday and suffering a left shoulder/rib contusion, though he appeared off the bench in two of those games. The first-time All-Star is slashing .220/.339/.340 without a home run through 19 games in September.

Nathan Eaton CF | BOS
Red Sox's Nate Eaton: Optioned to Triple-A
The Red Sox optioned Eaton to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
With Ceddanne Rafaela (quadriceps) returning to the active roster, Eaton loses his spot to close the regular season. Eaton went 3-for-16 across nine games during his latest stint in the majors. He has put up nine homers and 18 steals in 84 games with Worcester this season, but his overall numbers at the Triple-A level are not particularly impressive for a 29-year-old.

Angel Martinez LF | CLE
Guardians' Angel Martinez: On bench Wednesday
Martinez is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Martinez is enjoying a nice September with a 1.073 OPS and four homers in 15 games around a brief absence due to side discomfort. The 24-year-old switch hitter has emerged as the primary left fielder for Cleveland, but he will sit Wednesday as Petey Halpin starts in center field, pushing Steven Kwan to left against right-hander Sonny Gray.
-
Cody Bellinger LF | NYY
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Out of lineup Wednesday
Bellinger is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Bellinger was scorching hot to begin September, slashing .373/.387/.627 over his first 14 games of the month, but he has cooled off with just three hits in his last five games (20 at-bats). There has been nothing to suggest an injury is in play, so this looks like a breather ahead of the postseason. Jose Caballero will get the start in left field against right-hander Mason Englert.

Ceddanne Rafaela CF | BOS
Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Back from IL
The Red Sox reinstated Rafaela (quadriceps) from the injured list Wednesday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports. The 26-year-old will start in center field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
A right quad strain sent Rafaela to the 10-day injured list earlier this month, but he will return to face lefty Foster Griffin in the second game of the series versus Cleveland. Rafaela bypassed a rehab assignment but has been taking simulated at-bats against the team's Trajekt machine. The 26-year-old sits with a career-best .282/.317/.443 slash line through 135 contests, and he's already matched last year's mark with 3.9 fWAR this season despite having played in 21 fewer games.

Tyler O'Neill RF | BAL
Orioles' Tyler O'Neill: Gets PRP injection in shoulder
O'Neill was given a PRP injection in his injured right shoulder recently, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
O'Neill had already been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a strained right rotator cuff, but the goal of the injection is to speed along the healing process. He's fully expected to be ready to go in time for spring training. O'Neill slashed just .212/.300/.377 over 85 games for the Orioles this season, and he is set to make $16.5 million in 2027 in the final year of his three-year, $49.5 million contract.

Walker Jenkins CF | MIN
Twins' Walker Jenkins: Taking seat versus southpaw
Jenkins is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco.
The left-handed-hitting Jenkins is just 1-for-16 with a 1:7 BB:K against lefties thus far, and he will take a seat Wednesday as the Giants send southpaw Cesar Perdomo to the hill. Emmanuel Rodriguez will patrol center field for the Twins.

Heston Kjerstad RF | BAL
Orioles' Heston Kjerstad: Added to big-league roster
The Orioles recalled Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
He was just sent down this past weekend but is back to take the roster spot of the injured Samuel Basallo (concussion). Kjerstad is 4-for-19 with a 0:9 BB:K in 11 games for the Orioles this season and has slashed .289/.337/.462 with 11 home runs across 79 contests with Norfolk in 2026.
